Ah yes, the old Sega Genesis, the XBOX of its time. I remember buying my 1st console in the early '90s, and my choices consisted of NES, SNES, and GEN. I looked at the prices, and for some reason GEN was cheaper than the other two, so I figured the quality must reflect the price. Also the ad that I saw contained tons of games for NES, some for SNES, and just a couple for GEN. If I was going to get a console, I wanted one that can play lots of games, and I already knew those who had a NES and reviews were good. It was exciting playing those games back then; it's laughable now though. I made the mistake of buying NES, the one that comes with Super Mario Bros & Duck Hunt, with the laser gun.

Sonic is a classic, and being the first game for GEN, it was a hit. It took some time to get used to seeing a hedgehog instead of Mario, and Tails instead of Luigi. The graphics was better than any at the time, the console itself was easy to deal with, and the ergonomics of the controllers meant less irritation (compared with the boxy corners of NES controllers). I didn't really like the game, but got to give it credit for being a classic - you have to respect that. As for the Sonic TV cartoon shows that aired around 6 - 7 in the morning, that was a waste!
