Yeah that's even worse

Having to wait for your rings to reach 0 THEN finally dying
If there is torture in a Sonic game, that is probably it.

Nice video.
That also happened to me... several times, unfortunately.

From all the bad reviews, you'd think that Sonic '06 = torture.

Never played it but I've heard the stories about its legendary load times....

I think real torture in a Sonic game was that bloody barrel in Sonic 3. 9 Years that took me to get past. That, or the controls to Sonic Heroes.

I recall there being another pit in that level just before it which had no spikes; it wasn't that easy to fall down, but I managed it once - and I had to wait until the time limit ran out.

Haha, is that a joke!? The infamous barrel in Sonic 3? Have you played the game? If you have you must be of a very small amount of people who doesn't know what I'm talking about..... In the Carnival Night Zone, the 2nd act, you end up getting trapped in a room with a spinning barrel, and no other way out. I spent hours (make that years) of jumping up and down on the barrel, trying to get the barrel to go down far enough in order to progress with the level, when in reality, all you had to do was press the up and down button. Thousands of people got stuck on it, I'm always coming across topics in GameFAQs about it. I'm amazed you didn't know what I was talking about...

I've lost many lives in that barrel too and all of them due to time ending. It was boring. But one day I got angry and pressed down and saw the exit. :þ

I figured that out years ago when I was much younger. I mean think about it: What other way could you make that barrel go up and down if jumping won't do it? Just press Up and Down on the D-Pad of course. I had more difficulty "resetting" the computer in X-Men after beating Mojo.

Loads of people got stuck on it, it wasn't just me. That particular puzzle is infamous, even today, on these boards...
