Sonic GemS? Plural? No, it's Sonic CD and a bunch of worthless additions. One Gem in all.

Ah, Sonic Gems Collection. Look, it's Sonic CD that's worth playing, Sonic Fighters and Sonic R suck. I didn't play any of the Gamegear games, why would I want to play a Gamegear game on a big screen tv? Exactly, I wouldn't. I actually played Sonic R several years ago, I owned it for the PC, and the dumb kid that I was I kind of enjoyed it, one thing bugged me back then and it's the biggest flaw with the game, you can fisnish it, and I mean unlocking everything in an hour, hey, if you know where everything is from the get go, make that 30 minutes, if that. 4 stages and one secret one that's awful, they have numerous shortcuts but are way too short, with races lasting 1-3 minutes even with 3 laps. Controls, I'd like to see people who complain about the controls in Sonic Colours or Sonic Unleashed play Sonic R, now THESE are horrid controls. You better not try to stop and turn your character, it's like the QE2 turning around it's so damn slow. The music, holy cow, the music, actually Super Sonic Racing is passable, but the rest are so sickeningly "sunshiny", happy, supposedly feel good awful I don't ever want to hear any of them again. Amy Rose and Robotnik are absolutely useless and always end up in 4th or 5th place, they're ridicilously slow with practically zero useful advantages. To be fair Sonic R can be mildly entertaining, for a short while, you never really get too fed up when the game is this short. Robot Knuckles is cool, but the game is junk.

Sonic Fighters is even worse, yes, I couldn't believe it, an absolutely garbage fighting game, keep button mashing and you'll finish the arcade mode in 15-20 minutes and be done with it. And a fighting game? Who wants to punch and kick sweet Amy Roe anyway? Okay, I'm sure there are some. But believe me, I did not feel bad punching the hell out of Peck and Bark, and I hope I'll never see them ever again in any other Sonic game. There's a reason this wasn't released in the US previous to this, it SUCKS. People who say Sonic The Hedgehog from 2006 is the worst Sonic game obviously never played Sonic Fighters. Sonic CD is THE reason, the only reason to get this collection, let's not fool ourselves. It's great, but not the best Sonic game as some claim it to be. The level design can sometimes be an absolute mess, but I get it, they want to have multiple routes to add replayability, and the ability to go into hyperspeed and telelport to a different level is a great addition. The animated cutscenes are awesome BTW. The music is pretty good, Sonic Boom, Sonic Boom, Sonic Boom. The boss fights suck though. I like Sonic CD, but I think it's a smidge overrated. Here's the thing, should I rate the collection pretty high only because it has Sonic CD and ignore the other games in it? Or rate the whole collection as a whole? I'm going for the latter, and if you really want to play Sonic CD, get it, but if you're thinking about getting it to play the other games, don't bother.
