A bit bare bones, isn't it?

User Rating: 6.1 | Sonic Gems Collection GC
Sonic Gems Collection is the second compilation of Sonic games. The first was Sonic Mega Collection, which came out on all the consoles. Sonic Gems Collection has a few games, but ehre isn't really too much here to get excited about.

The games feautred here are Sonic CD, Sonic Fighters, Sonic R and some Game Gear titles. The only Standout game here is Sonic CD.

Sonic CD is your standard Sonic platform game, but with an interesting twist. Through out the levels, you can go backwards and forwards in time, to have access to different parts of the levels. Accomplishing a task in the "Past" version of each level will have an effect of the boss fight later in the game. It's a great game that never got enough attention, simply because the system it was on was never very successful.

Sonic Fighters is a simplistic fighting game made for the arcades. It has some interesting features, like how you shield works, but it's not all that great.

Sonic R is a bad racing game with horrible controls. It was never very good at all.

The other games featured are games from the Sega Game Gear. There's Sonic The Hedgehog 2, Sonic Spinball and Tail's Sky Patrol, among others. None of these have aged too well.

There are some extras available, like the original manuals.

The graphics seems about the same as they were when all these games were originally released. Everything is still as bright and colourful as ever.

The sound is what may have made Sonic CD stand out. The has some awesme music, sometimes with voices aswell. The sound effects are about on par with any other Sonic game. The other games have some good music, especially Sonic R.

The only true stand out title here is Sonic CD, and it can be hard to reccomend theis compilation for that 1 game alone. Theother games seem to have been put on just to justify rereleasing it. It's not bad, but approach it with caution.
