Possibly the most overrated Golden Era Sonic game, but still a good game and a must buy for 400 MP

Sonic CD is a 1993 platform video game in the Sonic the Hedgehog series, developed by Sonic Team for the Mega-CD/Sega CD. It marked the first official appearance of the characters Metal Sonic and Amy Rose. It was released by Sega in Japan on September 23, 1993, in Europe in October 1993, and in North America on November 19, 1993. The game has been critically acclaimed since release. (Thanks Wikipedia)

Now that you know what Sonic CD is, let's review the game by many points, i will describe every point and then give it a score out of 10.

Graphics: The graphics are very colorful and bright and they look really good for a Sega Genesis game, the animation is very well done too and the attention to detail is amazing (You can see by the animated background). Graphics deserve a perfect 10 score.

Gameplay: The gameplay is a little offsetting from the previous Sonic games (Sonic 1 and 2), this is where the game goes a little down for me, the stages are way too complicated for a Sonic game and it doesn't even let you run freely anymore, Wacky Workbench is a great example, an annoying stage that only frustrates you instead of letting you have fun, good luck trying to even walk in this stage. The Time Travel concept is unnecessary if you ask me but it is still a very good idea and it was well executed. The game is a little too hard for a Sonic game too and can even become frustrating sometimes (Wacky Workbench especially like i mentioned before) and the Special Stages are just annoying and boring. Gameplay deserve a 7 score.

Sound: The music is really good and fits really well with some of the stages. Some of the sound however, doesn't sound right for a Sonic game, like the Stage Complete theme (For both USA and JP versions), also i don't like that Sonic yells "YES!" whenever you get a 1up, it was better when a part of the main tune of the game was played. Sound deserves a 8 score.

Port Features: Now let's talk about the port features themselves, the game now supports Widescreen format which is a great feature (Even though i play in a SDTV, and yes the game still supports Standard format), you can now switch between the USA or Japanese soundtrack too, you can switch between different style of graphics: Smooth, Nostalgia and Soft (I personally like to use Nostalgia), you can even change the way you can Spin Dash (Between Sonic CD style or Sonic 2 style), and one of the coolest things that they added is that you unlock Tails as a playable character when you beat the game, the extra features of the original game are still there but they have to be unlocked first. Port deserves a perfect 10 score, this is a perfect port.

The Good:
*Perfect port of a classic game.
*Colorful and creative graphics
*Has a lot of extra stuff that will keep you coming back
The Bad:
*Stages slow down gameplay sometimes
*No co-op or versus feature added

Overall:
Possibly the most overrated Golden Era Sonic game, but still a good game and a must buy for 400 MP.
But if you ask me, "Sonic 1 or Sonic CD?", obviously Sonic 1, "Sonic 2 or Sonic CD?", obviously Sonic 2, "Sonic 3 or Sonic CD?", obviously Sonic 3, "Sonic & Knuckles or Sonic CD?", obviously Sonic CD.

Overall Score: 7.5
