Forgive me if I'm wrong but wasn't Sonic supposed to be quite fast?

Sonic Blast in a few words; is the worst Sonic game I've ever played on any console. It simply doesn't live up to the Sonic name.

When I first played Sonic Blast, I was surprised to see Sonic sporting a couple new moves that weren't even in the first Mega Drive/Genesis title, such as Spin Dash and Double Jump. I was also surprised to see Sonic in an almost 3D like form (with his buddy Knuckles). However, these pleasant things were simply not enough.

Sonic The Hedgehog is known for his speed, his coolness and well.. his speed. But this game sadly has neither of those. The game is incredibly slow, I really can't stress this enough. When running, it feels more like Sonic is some fat suburban American father taking a jog before breakfast to desperately stop himself having a heart attack. I'm serious. And when he does those loop-the-loop's that we all love to preform, it looks more like he has glue on his shoes, and is desperately trying to grip to that loop as much as he can!

Come on Sonic, you can do it!

That's not all. The levels are lacklustre and dull. Although you wouldn't expect the colour palette of a Master System and Game Gear to quite live up to the Mega Drive, it could at least have had some stuff going on in the background. A simple blue sky with no clouds or rivers isn't exactly making my mouth drool and bringing back memories of my childhood, as opposed to say making me want to fall asleep.

All in all, Sonic Blast is not worth buying. Even if you're a collector like me. If you don't trust my review, try the game out on an emulator first and you'll clearly see the boring bore festival of boring boredom that is: Sonic Blast

Pros: New moves. Kinda 3D.

Cons: Boring and Sloooooooooow. Like a real hedgehog. Disgusting graphics.
