User Rating: 9.3 | Sonic & Knuckles GEN
Gameplay: Sonic Team has developed one of the best Sonic games to ever show us what the Sega Genesis was all about. Intense fun. And Sonic and Knuckles, (along with other games locked in the game cart) delivers us that Intense fun. Being a 2D game, there's so much that can be found in this 2D masterpeice. Sonic and Knuckles was the only game for the Genesis that could add other Genesis carts on top. That's right, if you put your other Sonic games in the game's "Lock-On" feature, you get numerious extras that will add your replay value to its limits. If you put in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, then you get a giant 2D game with tons of action, stages, and power. This comination gives Genesis gamers non-stop fun for hours. Choose Sonic, Tails or Knuckles (Or the classic, Sonic and Tails duo) to blast through over 10 huge 2D action stages. Not only you complete the game with each, you have to collect all the Chaos and Super Emeralds, so all 3 can go in their super-forms. There's still more to talk about this game. So I won't spoil all the surprises here. I'll say this though. Most of the secrets in Sonic and Knuckles are completly worth it. Graphics: Sonic Team did a nice upgrade on the graphics. The game features nice colorful backrounds, and unbelievable action without no slowdown most of the time. The graphics may have been beatin by better-looking 2D games, but still, the graphics are a one of a kind. Sound: The Music in this game is really old-school, but still sounds great. The sound effects have some realism, and the overall game package (Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles together) features well over 30 songs. The games soundwork will impress any Sonic fan. Conclusion: This game me non-stop fun and enjoyment for over a year. As Sonic Team's last game on the Genesis, they saved some of the best for last. They gaved Sonic fans one of the best gifts in video game history, and that is the lock-on technique, so you can add your other Sonic games for extras. This game, overall, is a definite must-have to any Sonic fan and Sega gamer. This game is far from great. It's even better then great. It's almost revolutionary.
