I know this may be a noob question but like Skies of Arcadia lv when flying is there no way to make your character in the air go faster aside from the purple boost arrows?

I know you can sharp turn and get a boost like you would driving a car, but is that really it.

Then whats the point in flipping and twisting the analog stick like other players do? Or is that just showing off for fun.

You can get "risk boosts" by flying near something and pulling away from it at the last second. Those players are trying to "near miss" things for the risk boost.

Risk boosting is your key to victory. As the 2nd poster said, you need to dodge obstacles, mostly stage hazards and walls, at the last minute by doing a trick on the right stick. You'll know you did it right when the announcer yells "risk boost!" and you gain a small boost. You'll need to learn how to chain risks boosts and whatnot.

I love doing that in Burnout.
