I was expecting the IGN fanboys to start crying out that SEGA paid IGN to give it a good score, especially after everyone got upset over their low score for LPB Karting. What I found actually surprised me. Outside a few of the "Why is Sonic in a car" posts, everyone seems to be delighted and willing to try the game. That seems to be pretty good sign.

This is because the first game in the series was undeniably awesome so everyone was expecting the 2nd one to be = or better to the 1st which so far it's looking better.

Not really. Sonic's in a car as a handicap as no one can beat him when he's on foot. It said so in his bio in the game.

Yeah. That was true. The bio said it, it was also done in some promotional comic as well. In that one, tails mentioned to Sonic that the race would be unfair if Sonic didn't use the car. The car was used to help level the playing field.

It was already proven that Sonic can run on water and on air, sideways, just go watch crazy Sonic Unleashed videos.
Anyway, I'm just surprised IGN didn't trash the game for its difficulty, or maybe they just didn't play enough to unlock the hardest parts.

Oddly enough. Skies of Arcadia is also pretty well known and not exactly cult. Yet, knowing the names of the characters IN Skies of Arcadia is a bit more cult. Funny that is. Vyse, Aika, and Fina having less of a name than the game they star in?

I think thats a fair score. Its got a few issues which hold it back from being a super duper racer but its fantastic fun as long as you can put up with some of its janky annoyances.
