Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut is quite simply one of my favourite Sonic games to date.

As of 2006, Sonic has been through some very sloppy and unfinished games. Sonic '06 was fantastic in my opinion, but WAY too glitchy and frustrating. Sonic and the Secret Rings had horrible motion controls. Sonic Unleashed was very fun in the day time, and I actually sort of liked the werehog levels for what they were (a beat-em-up), but it got very boring. Sonic and the Black Knight had a SWORD, with combat slowing the gameplay down every 5 seconds. Basically, he hasn't been getting the good games he deserved until Sonic Colours and Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1. I can see why so many people turn into haters, but I personally will always be a fanboy of Sonic. Why? Because of Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut.

The story for this game is that Dr. Robotnik (Eggman) has a blue creature named Chaos, and Eggman is taking the Chaos Emeralds because each Emerald given to Chaos will make it stronger, until it becomes invincible. Now, it's up to Sonic and his friends to stop the creature, as well as Eggman.

In the game, you first start out only as Sonic. However, as you play the levels, you will meet your friends, as well as new allies. These are Tails, Knuckles, Amy, E-102 Gamma, and Big. Each of them have their own unique way of beating the levels. Sonic has his traditional running and jumping very fast, Tails has to outrace Sonic by using shortcuts by flying with his tails. Knuckles has to find the pieces of the Master Emerald by using his tracker. There are 3 pieces in each of the levels. Amy has to run away from a giant robot that Eggman made. This robot happens to be invincible, but Amy can use her hammer to knock him down for a few seconds. E-102 Gamma's levels consist of him shooting his laser at everything he sees, and hovering over certain jumps. Big's levels require you to fish for his friend Froggy, who has swallowed a Chaos Emerald.

The music is great. Each level has the music that you would expect to hear. For example, in the Casino levels, you hear slot machines and a catchy beat to it. Every soundtrack is catchy and enjoyable.

The graphics were upgraded from the Dreamcast version, but they are not the best. In the cutscenes, it looks like flash animation everytime they start to run, and their mouths and facial features don't really sync with the voices. Also, in the actual levels, they jitter around far too often for it to go unnoticed, but it doesn't hurt the gameplay at all.

Throughout the levels, you will find power-ups for each specific character you play as. For example, Sonic gains the move Light Dash, in which if you hold B, Sonic rolls in position, turns glowy blue, and if you let go on a line up of rings, Sonic will move in their position. Some of them are pretty cool, like Tails' ability to keep spinning his tails if you hold B.

The things that I did not like:

- boss fights were a little too easy
- emblems are SUPER hard to collect, if you want them all
- I could go on and on about how much I hate Big's levels. he is the most boring, useless, tedious, mind-numbing, horribly designed character I have ever played as. Fishing for Froggy is NOT fun, and if you want to beat the game 100%, you will be forced to play as him.

In the end, Sonic Adventure is a fantastic game. I love everything about it (except Big). If you are lucky enough to find this in stores, buy it because it is definitely worth the money.
