Sonic makes his first appearance on a Nintendo Console in this blistering, speedy game with vast, awesome environments, only to top it all off with a wide selection of characters, 2p battle, kart racing and the awesome chao breeding system.
This was the first game on the GCN I got and I was so happy when I got it, especially since I am a huge Sonic fan. This game is a remake of the dreamcast version of the game, and although there are no changes to the actual story mode itself, the game is still, in my opinion, a remake masterpiece. It may that I am saying this because I never got a chance to play the dreamcast since I never got my hands on one. But one things for sure, this is my favourite Sonic game of all time.
Graphics
At the time of reviewing, the graphics are now out of date and yet they still look spectacular. The graphic are still better than some of the modern Wii games! Although at times they seem blocky, they never get in the way of the action. The framerate is also impressive, making the game always run smoothly without any slowdown whatsoever.
Gameplay
There are two sides to play as. The hero side and the dark side.
Each has three characters with different gameplay styles. Sonic and Shadow offer high speed gameplay, with the goal being to reach the goal ring. Knuckles and Rouge offer scavenging gameplay where in each level you have to find 3 pieces of the master emerald. Tails and Eggman offer a shoot'em up style of gameplay. Some of the controls feel a bit tacked, but it is still playable. However, sometimes the controller acts as if you pressed the same button twice.

Sega seemed to try and re-invent the wheel on Sonic games and they pulled it off quite nicely

A decent 3D Sonic game, though it has it's flaws.
