One word: yikes.

User Rating: 2.5 | Sonic 3D Blast GEN
Sonic 3D Blast is, compared to the other masterpieces on the Genesis, a piece of garbage. Sonic 1 was slick fun, Sonic 2 was more polished and full of gameplay, and Sonic 3 (with Knuckles, of course) was the Renaissance, with massive levels, eye-popping graphics, and amazing speed. Like, running on water speed.

Sonic 3D is none of the above. The quasi-3D graphics look nice for a 16-bit game, but, as most of us know, graphics do not make a game great. At times, they make an already great game greater, but they don't do jack to bad games. This game is one of the latter.

The story, compared to Sonic 3 and Knuckles, is corny as hell. Magical birds, called Flickies? They're just a plot device that is like day-old dishwater. The pace, compared to the blink-of-an-eye speed of Sonic 3, is slower than a snail. Going uphill. After taking tranquilizers. The controls are clumsy, the levels are too big for a game this slow... I could go on forever.

Go to Ebay and buy a Saturn, plus that version of the game. It's actually quite good. This, however, is an insult to everything Sonic and his friends stood for.

And I might as well use the time to tell you, Tails is not involved in this game.

Bad, huh?
