One big game squeezed on a portable system, but still delivering outstanding results.

User Rating: 8 | SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Tactical Strike PSP
The Socom Tactical Strike is one game that will take you by surprise when first played without any warnings. It has a whole new level and field of control which gives you a very different yet satisfying feel to virtual combat.

It is evident that the producers have put in a lot of work into the game, but due to the limited physical capabilities of the PSP, it causes some problems. One of those problems is the limited viewing area. The PSP has a fairly big screen, especially compared with the other portable gaming systems. But during the game, you can only see so much. Sometimes this makes movement very difficult. Other problems are fairly minor and do not affect too much of the overall experience. As mentioned in many other reviews, Tactical Strike brings great graphics. I would agree. Besides the fact that all the enemies look almost identical, the maps are actually constructed with very good graphics. This makes it almost like a PS2 grade game, but can be carried with you almost anywhere.

The other big thing about socom games is the online multiplayer mode. Surprisingly, I found a lot less lag that I had expected, but it will vary, depending on how many people you're playing with, and other factors. It may take a while to get used to, but after that, online play is just as fun as single player.

This game have moments where your feel so into it, and you get the same kind of feelings of playing combat games on bigger game consoles.

Socom Tactical Strike focuses much on the approach of smart combat. Rather than the regular kind of "shoot like crazy at the enemies" kind of game. Some may like that kind better, but I think this game will be enjoyed by most who love combat games, including the previous socom games.
