User Rating: 7.5 | SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo PSP
SOCOM: U.S. Navy Seals Fireteam Bravo, by Zipper Interactive. I will start off this review by saying that this is the first SOCOM game I've tried on the PSP, and I would have given it a 6.5 if it was not on a PSP or other handheld system. The graphics aren't too good, but the game was made kind of a long time ago, also combining the fact that it is on a handheld system. You play as Sandman, a Navy SEAL commander. The story is kind of long, so I will just go over the beginning. Basically, Chile is liberating the country and supposedly "fixing" it. They believe that their other Latin American brothers will follow in their footsteps to "true freedom" as what Chile specifies it as. So you go in and stop them, all that advanced military stuff. I will say the overall story is better than SOCOM Fireteam Bravo 3, as it isn't as short or as obvious. Gameplay is straightforward and playable, and the game fits in some excellent controls (just like in Fireteam bravo 3) for the PSP. It can get a little repetitive, so that is a little bit of a "meh," moment. Their are a large amount of weapons in this, including HE grenades, flash bangs, smoke grenades, SMGs, shotguns, assault rifles, sniper rifles, etc. One thing I would like to say though, which has nothing to do with the game, is why this is rated "M" for mature for just violence. I don't exactly mind, but my family is a little serious about the ratings on the video games for the younger ones. My ten-year-old little brother wanted this as it was very cheap (like $5.00 for a used copy) but was upset to find out that mom and dad didn't accept mature material, even though he tried explaining the entire situation. (which was kind of funny) Anyways, back to the review. The game has a layer of strategic depth, which is good for those who like more advanced schemes of gameplay, and as mentioned before the game is very, very cheap, which is about $10.00 (or something around that) for a new copy. If your looking for a really cheap shooter game with an amount of depth, I'd suggest this.
