Disappointing Online Play A dedicated SOCOM I and II fan wants his game back. It's been hi-jacked.

User Rating: 5.1 | SOCOM 3: U.S. Navy SEALs (Greatest Hits) PS2
I'm an "older" SOCOM gamer than most -- I'm 39 -- so perhaps my comments don't match up with some of my younger counterparts. However, I have played SOCOM on a weekly basis since I came out, and while I'm not that good I can hold my own, and best of all this game has been a blast to play online. Up to now, that is.

I'll just say it - Zipper screwed this one up. The problems with the previous SOCOM's were obvious (come on Zipper - you guys must have been living in a cave not to realize that your scoring system has been a mess). Instead of polishing an already great game, Zipper tried to solve problems that didn't exist. Do we really need maps that are so large the result is draw after draw after draw? Where is the creative map-making that we saw in the first two games of this series? All these maps look numbingly alike.

Here's my wish list for SOCOM IV on the PS3:

1. get back to the smaller, creative, fun maps.
2. 8 on 8 was fine. Maybe 10 on 10 if you can make it happen without supersizing the maps or having the framerate suffer.
3. give me the ability to have an open mic connection with a buddy (now that would be pretty cool).
4. Make it easier to find other players of my similar rank and level, and give me lots of options for getting into those games.
5. Fix the scoring. For the love of God, don't you realize that this will make the game SO much better. The scoring right now is a complete joke. Even the in-game scoring should be improved. 2 points for a kill? Ridiculous. So I can kill 2 people (for me a pretty good round) but because I'm on the losing team I get 4 points while some guy on the other (winning) team camped out, didn't fire a shot, and gets 6 points? And don't get me started on your ladder rankings. Do I care if I'm ranked 756,879 vs. 794,972? How about sub-ladders where you compare my results with other similarly ranked players? I could brainstorm another half dozen ways to amp up the ladder rankings so I'm sure you can too. Get it done.
6. While you're at it, some more realistic body mechanics would be nice. What I mean is that when you get shot, how about you leave a blood trail? Would set up a great way to track down someone who's wounded. How about adding a medical kit so you can sew up your own wound or a buddy's wound? You might have to stop and take 10 seconds being completely immobile, leaving yourself as a big target while you heal.

Has anyone seen our SOCOM?

I WANT MY SOCOM BACK!!!!
