Kirby set to spook Euro VC

Fast-paced puzzle game Kirby's Ghost Trap is released today for the Wii Virtual Console in Europe, joined by Devil's Crush.

Two new European releases have been announced for the Nintendo Wii's Virtual Console. First up is puzzle game Kirby's Ghost Trap (known as Kirby's Avalanche in the US), which was first released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1995. Players battle their foes by stacking and blending colour-coded blobs; over 16 levels, the chain reactions caused by the blobs create cascades of ghosts that fall on opponents. The game can be purchased for 800 Wii points (around £6).

Button-mashing may also be in order with Devil's Crush, a pinball simulation that is the sequel to Alien Crush. Available for download for 600 Wii points (around £4.50), the game sees players propelling a ball around a pinball board to achieve high scores and unlock up to six bonus stages. Devil's Crush was originally released for the Turbografx in 1990.

Chisoxrule needs to come and live in the UK over the Q4 release period. When he hears from his mates what's on the shelves in the USA and visits the UK shops asking for those games they'll say something to him that'll make him jump on his plane back home within minutes! In fact he'll jump on so quick he won't here about the prices we have to suffer paying too.

Um... How did they get permission to rerelease that Kirby game? It said Nintendo/Hal/Compile/Banpresto on it's startup screen. And the core Puyo engine is now owned by Sega. That's a lot of legal wrangling...

JustWiicredible: Check out WWW.GAMEFAQs.com They have a hole list of games for the tg-16. I would say, they have about 500 games out on it.

Does anyone know how many games came out on this TG-16 thing? Because it seems they have to put ALL of it's shovelware on the VC before we get any decent games like Secret of mana, Pilotwings 64 or Super Metriod.

That's true, but still it would be nice of them to just hand over the rights for just Goldeneye. It may be wishful thinking, but still, think of the children.

"How about Chrono Trigger, Super Metroid, Super Mario RPG, SMB3 and Goldeneye, eh Nintendo? The games are already made, it shouldn't be that hard to put them up on the VC."

For Metroid and SMB3, sure. But with Chrono Trigger, Super Mario RPG and Goldeneye, you've got third party rights to deal with. The former two shouldn't be a big deal because Square-Enix and Nintendo are on good terms now, but Goldeneye you've gotta deal with Rare (developer of the game, owned by Microsoft) and Activision (Bond game rights holder).

My guess is they're not going to release the games that we really care about until 2008 drought of Wii games.

chisoxrule: Because A) We have to wait longer (much longer) for regular game. Games that youve had since launch. and B) Because you guys got Donkey Kong Country 3 weeks earlier than us.

Oh, and theres the small matter of us paying more than you for everything.

Big whup. However why is it that Europe always gets the bigger releases before the US? We had to wait almost a whole month for Punch-Out! to come to the US.

Well, now they're just screwing with us by basically releasing every Kirby game under the sun except Super Star. Oh Nintendo, how you love to watch me squirm.
