This is game gives you a great example on how to set up a horror atmosphere. As you travel through the woods as a female reporter in private property (from what I heard) you are given an objective - to collect eight notes scattered throughout the area. From the first minute you get this eerie feeling that something bad is going to happen. With every note (there is no order you find in this forested area, you get a clearer image of what exactly is in store for you. His name is Slenderman, a mythological man that stalks you throughout the game. As you collect more notes the intensity picks up, your flashlight gets dimmer and the music really gets you paranoid. And then after wandering around in the woods, knowing something is out there, the tension slowly building up, BOOM, Slenderman comes out off hiding and you either run or be killed, either way you will be swearing vigorously and jumping a little. That is what a great horror game does. There is nothing flashy about this game, but it really is quite the experience. The game was not made by company so obviously the graphics are not stellar, but this game is not meant to be eye candy. If you live to collect all eight notes, it shouldn't take you over a hour, but something about get frightened until your have a new pair of yellow underwear should draw you back to play it again. Or maybe let a friend play and get your ear muffs ready.
