1 Like I disliked the game for the first few hours but it turned out to be extremely addictive and fun. Beats both GTA4 and Saints Row 3 for me. Few bugs and somewhat ripoff DLC dent the score a bit but nothing that will ruin the fun of playing this game endlessly.
1 Like This game is awesome. Recently it has been the only game in my Xbox. I didn't really know if I would be into it that much as I thought it would be a cheap GTA rip-off, but Sleeping Dogs is anything but that. It is unique. The vibrant setting and array of characters really made me want to continue playing and exploring the world of Hong Kong. The main campaign is great, the side missions are great, everything about this game is great. I love the way that melee combat plays a huge part in the missions, as I sometimes find that games of this particular genre get boring quickly if you're just running in a building and gunning some guys down with no strategy. The missions are surprisingly varied and will not get boring like in some games, and if you do get bored there are always street races, side missions and favors to occupy your time. Perhaps the storyline is not the most unique, but that doesn't put me off as the gameplay is just so fantastic. This is a game that I will try and achieve 100% completion on as there is so much to go back for. I'm glad the game doesn't end as soon as the campaign does. Buy this game now, even if you aren't a huge fan of open world games! 9/10
Game looks like it has a lot of variety. Also, each gameplay element seems like it has depth.
This game looks really fun! I wonder...are there different martial arts styles that you can use? Wing Chun would be cool!

1 Like This looks great. The best game of last year, aside from skyrim, was Saints row the third. It was better than GTA IV (not SA though). This looks in similar vein. And frankly i always thought the true crime series COULD have went somewhere if the developers just bothered. I
Hopefully they don't suck in driving, like Saints Row did. Driving physics are essential especially if you navigate the world mostly through it, IMO.
hanging out of a car shooting , slow motion fight scenes , it looks like GTA but its different nice game it should be in every collection if u like open world games
The last GTA-style game I played is Canis Canem Edit, which was a long long time ago. Looks good but not for me.
It looks too much like the GTA games to have been worth developing; not different enough to be worth buying. For that reason, I probably won't buy it, but, if I do, I'll wait till it's been out a while and the price is considerably less.
Review Looks cool - although looks like a lot of all the others, a lot of Wheelman with Vin Diesel, jumping around - and a rip from Just Cause 2.. Have not played yet, not sure how it stands up to the quality, I suppose with Square Enix, its at least playable.
Good game with emphasis on storytelling, has some strong moments and characters, good brawling and acceptable cover shooter action. Only very little to criticize about its existing mechanics. The major flaw however is the alarming lack of content, and the "quality" of what it offers is not high enough to outweigh this fact. Still it is a blast while it lasts, it does not last long however.
Oh and the ones complaining about missing because of lousy lock-on, please do try playing using your hands instead of your feet next time.
if you're playing this on PC with a keyboard and mouse, it cannot be said enough that the controls feel awkward and motions are incredibly jerky an rigid. Which is odd, as I've heard the PC was the primary version.
Also, some of said that the combat wasn't "taken" from Batman. That this game developed it before Batman. Whether that's true or not I don't know, but don't be fooled into thinking that means this game does it just as well or better than the Batman games. It's entirely impossible to continuously flow a large brawl in a single giant combo the way Batman pulls off so beautifully. In this game, your strikes and grapples aren't locked onto targets, so you often miss, and if your target isn't close enough, you'll simply just hit nothing but air in your attempt to swing at them.
This game is not terrible. I am playing it on PC with a 360 controller and the gameplay seems enjoyable thus far. If you can play GTA4 or Saints Row 3, you can certainly give this game a go. Something to nibble on until Borderlands 2, AC3, and GTA5 come out. If you're into any one of those that is.

In the demo I couldn't lock on when fighting, if you can't lock on to enemy when fighting, how can I fight well at all? I just kept dying over and over. I press the lock on button, but nothing happens. Turn me off towards buying the game.
@TruSake L2 - PS3 or Left trigger - 360 is the lock on button. It will highlight an enemy with a red circle around their feet. Not certain it was in the demo but it is in the full game.
1 Like It truly is a great game. Not as long and draged out as GTA IV or Mass Effect, but definately long enough to be enjoyed and satisfying to finish. Glad I bought it for PC.
The rain effect is the best of any game yet made. Work of art.
