Being remade by Square Enix was the best thing that ever happened to the former True Crime: Hong Kong...

I love this game. It plays alot like a GTA game but with more martial arts and less gun play. The driving isn't quite as good as it should be but it does include hundreds of different cars, buses, motorcycles, etc that you can drive around Hong Kong. You play as a cop so you aren't really encouraged to mow down pedestrians but of course you can to your hearts delight. The free play isn't quite as fun as GTA but the missions are quite entertaining and there are lots of different types. Some of the language is in Chinese which can be confusing and all the characters are Chinese, but none of this really takes away from the game play. As you progress through the game you gain new fighting abilities and styles which definitely adds to the fun of the game. If you are a fan of GTA or Saints Row then you will love this game. I have played through it once and am getting reading to replay it until GTA 5 comes out!! You feel like you are playing Infernal Affairs II or the Departed. You feel that balance you try to strike being a cop and being a gangster. The voice acting is fantastic. Everything just works with the narrative.
The combat is engaging and gives enough challenge for you to focus on whats going on. Also incorporating take downs and free running mechanics gives the game play a enjoyable variety.
The music is really fitting and sometimes you get that zen moment when its dark and raining and just the right song sets the tone as you speed down the highway. Loved the music so much in this game. Bastion and Red Dead are two of the other few games that nailed this aspect that lots of games miss.
