Not just a hong kong knock off.
You play as Wei an undercover cop trying to crack down on a triad crime ring and to do this you'll be doing a lot off fighting, walking,running, jumping, vaulting and of course driving. For the most part these various mechanics work well. The fighting is decent and chaining together combo's is fun. The chase missions have you vaulting and jumping over obstacles and this also works well, and while the driving feels a little loose sometimes its still very playable.
GRAPHICS:
Its fair to say that Sleeping Dogs looks best when wet, sure the rain looks good and it also fair to say that overall the game looks good, but its not mind blowing and the numerous glitches don't help.
SOUND:
There are several radio stations to provide your music, gun shots and car sound are good, the high point is the voice acting which is absolutely spot on.
LASTING APPEAL:
I'd say if your after all the achievements you could wring about 30 or so hours out of it.
OVERALL:
Sleeping Dogs is a fun game, its not perfect but it has a decent story set in a vibrant city with lots to do. And while it can frustrate you its never enough to give up.
