Sleeping Dogs is a martial arts open world city crime game that delivers a great story and fun gameplay.
Good:
+Beautiful graphics with good frame rate on decent computers.
+You can pick between many clothes to customize your looks
+Good voice acting with believable voices
+Excellent fighting mechanics
+Good written story with many surprises and good variation
+Driving mechanics for cars are very good, its fun to drive cars in the game
+Nice mini games such as unlocking, hacking etc. Nothing too hard and nothing annoying
+Random events on the street like bag stealing, capture the thief etc.
+Hidden secrets are fun to find
+Leveling up your skills ad improve your fighting skill is always a plus
Bad:
-The use of fast travel. Taxis are the only option and i rarely used one. They are sometimes hard to find and you cant call them on your phone
-Very limited phone abilities. You cant call any one you would like. If you meet a woman you can only call her once and then shes gone from the phone forever. Very disappointing because the lack of free will.
-Racing. Car racing is very very easy while motorcycle races are way too difficult. The A bikes cant be controlled. they are going waaay too fast and when you turn you just mess things up. very poor bike mechanics.
-Racing in general. Its no fun, its more annoying. Win or start over, If you lose youll get pissed, if you win you think "Finally its over". No fun what so ever.
-No arms dealer. You can only find weapons by missions and in boxes. if you save the game with a gun, next time you start the weapon is gone.
-Police chases are terrible. No challenge because the ai is really stupid. They dont ram you or anything. No helicopters chasing you, no road blocks. Cop chases are so dull and easy in this game.
-Lack of new areas. Sleeping Dogs is more of the same the entire game. You can go anywhere you want from the start. This makes the game feel the same from start to finish.
-Low replay value. Its like a movie. You cant change anything that happens. You cant choose how to do things or how to speak. Its quite linear.
All in all Sleeping Dogs is a fun experience. Its a shame it most likely only will be a one time gameplay for most people because of the lack of freedom. But im happy i bought the game. This game made me love martial arts and the Chinese culture even more! If there ever will be a sequel it is a must buy for me!
