a yoonik! Sleeping Dogs review: The best GTA alternative

User Rating: 9 | Sleeping Dogs PC

PROS:

- A surprisingly well-written and exciting story of the Hong Kong mob scene, featuring surprisingly relatable and well-developed characters to root for, voiced by a surprisingly good bunch of well-known celebrities like that Chinese guy Batman dragged out of the building, the British ambassador from the first Rush Hour, and Emma freaking Stone (which you romance by the way)

- Amazing parkour mechanics, kung-fu based combat and gunplay, further strengthened with those sleek slo-mo finishers, that put GTA to shame (like vaulting over obstacles to shoot in slo-mo, jumping over cars to hijack them, or shooting motorcycle tires to flip them in the air)

- Really beautiful recreation of Hong Kong metropolis and its little crevices, explorable by a pretty smooth driving system, though the map feels pretty small. Though I should point out that you'll be driving on the right side of the road

- Karaoke minigame (yes, karaoke, though there should've been more songs)

CONS:

- The pretty repetitive side activities to undertake, except those of course where you date those hot celebrity-voiced Asian women
