Despite the repetitive premise, Sled Storm makes for a pretty awesome game.

Sled Storm is a snow vehicle racing title from the EA Sports Big lineup, the same source for games like the famous SSX series. After receiving quite the graphical tuneup demanded of it before release, here it comes, and it's a great looking game.

First of all the graphics are, in a sense, wicked. Apart from the fluid character models, the locations in which races are held have very plenty of flash, and it doesn't stop there. The tracks are pretty well-made, besides the previously mentioned beautiful scenery, there are plenty of shortcuts and air time opportunities to come across. Sadly, the rather repetitive mechanics of the game will usually leave you seeking out the best way to get through a course and using it to win every race in said course.

The gameplay is somewhat repetitive (obviously, all you do is race and do tricks) but the tricks are pretty interesting to try and pull off and look at. The replay value is there, but having to race again and again on very few tracks can get pretty boring after a while considering the number of sleds you can unlock (again and again for each character, unfortunately.) The game could have made good use of a character or sled creation system, or both.

The game sounds good, with catchy techno tracks to keep you bouncing along the duration of the races. Again, sadly, the small number of tracks make for a small list of tunes.

It's a bit hard to describe the overall gameplay though. The controls are responsive for the most part, but an iffy crash detection system can have you bailing on the most unexpected turns which will usually cause you a position or two. It's not always hard to get back on top though; the game somehow has this way of making the AI either too easy to catch up to or really hard to lose. It poses a challenge in some situations, but it's good fun nonetheless.

In short, Sled Storm has come up to be a pretty awesome game. It's hard to describe, but it's just so good. All the setbacks are minor and forgivable which makes for a pretty decent experience. Despite the repetitive premise, Sled Storm makes for a pretty awesome game.
