Elemental power from heroic challenges?

I am working on getting my heroic challenges done first for my skylanders before I continue on in the game, and i find that after I'm finished with them, my skylanders have done some elemental damage now, usually not alot (around 1 or 2 hundred something) and I have never played them in story mode yet. ARE there heroic challenges that give elemental damage? I know that EARTH characters have an advantage in BASH's board and WATER have advantage in WHAMSHELLs board, but do some give elemental damage to skylanders?

Nope, you have to play the story and use the skylanders appropriate to the element for each part of the stages. It's unfortunate. There's no quick way to max out a character in this game like there was in the first one.

Ok, but what I really want to know is where the elemental damage came from for my skylanders. My Hot Head now has 250 elemental damage in his elemental quest and I have done nothing with him yet but grab money back on the Dreadnaught between levels. He has no defeated enemies in his Monster Masher quest, so WHERE did this elemental damage come from?
