Skylanders Giants (Starter Pack) Question

Is my Sonic Boom messed up?

I bought a glow-in-the-dark, series 2 Sonic Boom today and put it on the portal to find it was already level 5. Why was it like that? I know I bought it new. Does it have anything to do with it being series 2? (I play Spyro's adventure by the way)

Some of the special variants come with some xp and gold already on them. I suspect that's the case here. As long as data saves to it, it isn't broken. Claim ownership of him in the character menu just to make sure he wasnt previously on somebody else's portal of power.

If you want to start him at level 1, you can always reset the character.
