An overrated pile of junk that has minimum lasting appeal - OK I was a bit too harsh, its good but can be better :)

First of all to get it straight, I'm not a Tony Hawk fan boy, producing you a review that's completely biased but this is true. This game feels broken. Skating has to be a sport, not a freakin' button masher. The game feels easy due to this cause really, your basically moving your board and then randomly pressing a sequence of buttons hoping your doing it right and surprisingly pass your task. I got the same stuff out of Tony Hawk's Proving Ground that Skate offered but yet Skate gets a higher review and people say it's better when practically it's nearly the same.

The graphics are average. The game did come out in 2007 but the graphics aren't pretty enough to praise. They look good over all but nothing special.

The combos and moves take very little time to learn, in fact just randomly pressing buttons is a combo, and you never realize it.

Skating about is fun for an hour or less but you'll lose interest soon.

The objective of the game is to do certain tricks so it's like your learning to skate, most these tricks are generously timed, in other words, you get about 30 seconds to do a trick that can be achieved within a mere 5 seconds. The game is too rewarding and makes the game feel too easy.

Toning up the difficulty doesn't make it any more challenging, it makes it somewhat a bit difficult compared to the toned down version but otherwise still can be easily completed.

Some tricks take time to master but is pretty easy to do so.
Overall, Skate is a somewhat similar game to the Tony Hawk series except has a different style to it with an easy story mode that can be finished in 5 hours or less. I was neither disappointed or happy since I was expecting something average from EA since it was their first shot at creating a skating-based game and normally their sports products are quite good.
