If you like classic arcade rail shooter, then put Sin and Punishment: Star Sucessor on your shelf!

User Rating: 8.5 | Tsumi to Batsu: Uchuu no Koukeisha WII
Sin and Punishment: Star Sucessor it's a flashy, fast and smooth rail shooter with obvious japanese roots. The series started on a cult N64 release, by the year of 2000, under the long name "Tsumi to Batsu: Hoshi no Keishousha". There was not an official (there are a few english patches around the web, of course) US release until Sin and Punishment 2, wich brought the original N64 version directly to Wii's virtual console.

There's not much to say about the gameplay of this title. The Wii remote works instantly as a light gun, while the nunchuk is responsible for secondary movements. It's also possible to make use of your Wii Zapper and you are free to customize the controllers as you wish. The actions are restricted to a few buttons - to perform a slash, just stop holding the fire button and mash it repeatedly. The dodge roll can be done by pushing Z button while holding the direction with the analog stick. To use your jetpack (a strange device wich looks like a turtle shell), just press C. Well. This simple scheme is more than enough to provide a lot of action during stages.

Oh, the stages. Did I say that they are loooong enough to cause a boredom by the later parts? No? Unfortunately, this is one of low points into Sin and Punishment: Star Sucessor. Sometimes, for example, you'll find a big guy wich could be the actual boss of the stage, but guess what? Most of times they aren't! Seriously, this looks surprising at the beginning, but this formula gets old way too fast. There's a couple checkpoints through your progress and they are very helpful, because... you just got a SINGLE health bar to complete the entire stage! In order to find a health recovery packs, you should kill certain die-hard enemies, like sub bosses. By the way, the continues are unlimited, but if you die and come back, your score will be lowered to 0. Kinda frustrating. The co-op helps a lot, like in most of these arcade games.

The art style, character design, machines, enviroments and everything else has a strong appeal. Personally, I think that some cutscenes are too cheesy, but do not mind. The sound value is also very good, with some modern rock tunes in soundtrack and nice voice acting.

Sin and Punishment: Star Sucessor (most known as just "Sin and Punishment 2") is definitely a must have for fans of the genre. If you are just looking for an original game with a good amout of substance, just get it!
