The number of times I died exceeds the number of words in this review. XD

It's nice to know there are some things we can still use while we endure the yearly gaming drought; Sin & Punishment (for the sake of space I'll call it 2) is a game for those who spent their youth twiddling away the days at their local arcade on their favorite top-down shooter.

For those whom did not play the first, Sin & Punishment is a game much like Star Fox game play wise (and for those whom didn't play that; it's a rail-shooter, basically). The screen is almost always filled with things to shoot and things that wanna shoot you; your basic job is to survive until the end of the level by expunging everything in front of you.

The story of the game is simple with a complex theme; the main characters Isa & Kachi (both of which are playable) are on the run from an organization that would see Kachi killed for reasons I will not display here. Overall, the story keeps bringing up the question of "what makes us human?", and seems intent on blurring the line between monsters and people.

The controls are very flexible; you have your choice of classic, gamecube, or Wiimote + nunchuk (?) controls. Cursor sensitivity can be fiddled to your liking allowing you to play in a way that suit s you....

...which is good, cuz this game is HARD. Not Ninja Gaiden hard, more like good-luck-beating-the-game-without-dying-once-and-don't-say-you-did-unless-you-can-prove-it hard; non-gifted/skilled casual gamers will die more times than the characters in DBZ. You are constantly put through increasingly difficult (but satisfyingly varied) situations where everyone that would see you dead has more health than you; and for high score junkies this is especially bad cuz you lose a huge chunk of your score every time you die. Coupled with the fact that you can upload your scores online, it's brutal.

Do not fret, though, as the game is meant to be challenging but never puts you in a hopeless situation (although doubt will start setting in come the final boss....). The only negatives of this game is the voice acting is sub-par, and many may not find the story relevant, but those are minor issues.

Normally, I'd criticize the game for being short, but its small length allows it to throw you for a loop constantly and eliminates the need to recycle old material. On the other hand, you end up finishing it so fast it may not be worth a buy. Try it out; if not this then play the first one; if that sells you then welcome to the Nebulox!
