Will Wright discusses a variety of SimCity topis in this 'Mayor Memories' video.
I pre-ordered the game after playing the beta. The map does look small but I think it would take a while to fill that up to full development plus with the control of multiple cities, the size should be sufficient. Guess we'll know in a couple of weeks!!!
@eas022 Yea, the map is smaller than the last SimCity.... BUT it also looks like we have greater control of the city to me. With SimCity 4, I never really cared to be zoomed in... I mainly only cared about my budget & stats. With this game, I look forward to actually seeing the city breathe and grow.
I wonder if this interview would even exist without the whole "map size" discussion.
Is this "damage control" ?
Hey Will....don't you EVER do that again!!!! Leaving us with those CRAPPY wannabe games of the LAST DECADE!!! And not being more hands on with those French developers which basically RUINED SimCity for the LAST DECADE for us!!! WILL STARTED SIMCITY and ONLY WILL can MAKE SimCity games PERIOD!!!
I will add that maybe the small scale idea, where you focus on individuals and connect more with them, could be made into an interesting game. But, when it's 100,000 sims? I don't think so. Maybe with a few hundred people, you could have very deep interaction and observation at a very detailed level.
Instead, it feels like here their overall idea is decent, but the scale is actually too large for it to work and really it would be better done in a new game rather than a SimCity sequel.
Yes, the tiny cities, well it just plain sucks, and completely goes against what most of the SimCity fans want. The beta forum was flooded with complaints, I don't think it's just a small group. And this seems dumb to me as I don't see SimCity being able to suddenly win a market of new gamers, it's totally a niche game, city building overall is very niche.
Sure the smaller focus COULD be cool, but I surely didn't feel that way about the beta. Maybe when it releases this will become apparent, but I doubt it :),
The game is shit. Won't buy it, just like I didn't buy Cities XL or Socities.
A-Train is better than this, the one that came out in 1989.
EA is a crap company and we all know that. Only decent product associated with them is BF3.
@cubd1 have you even played the game i highly doubt you have as it isn't even out yet and you calling it crap before it comes out just shows how much of an idiot you are.
I don't really care for all this crap about having an emotional connection to each little sim. Can't they make it fascinating enough to just build a giant metropolis from scratch?
