A brilliant game with amazing potential that has so many bugs that it is simply not playable.

First thing that occurred after I bought the game were server issues. The ones which everybody has been reporting for the last. But even now, with most (not all, not nearly all) of the sever issues fixed we find the major, major bugs in the game. While the game advertises that it simulates every single sim, this is complete rubbish. Simple experiments ingame have shown that about 80-90% of the population displayed does not in fact exist, and this number falls even further when buildings are removed (for if a building is destroyed in a disaster or bulldozed then all the workers inside disappear from the game). Sims take the nearest available house and nearest available job every day, they do not have their own houses. In fact, the same AI is used to distribute traffic, power, water and sims (none of which function properly).

Then the list of other bugs. Desync errors with regions, where two cities simply don't connect properly. Tourists ending up in stupid places, disappearing work vehicles which makes a city unplayable. The list goes on.

While I want to love this game, and would do so if a certain company had not attempted to force the studio to release the game before it was ready, I cannot. Because it is broken. It does not work. This game is about on par with most very early betas I have played. And Maxis should have known about server issues, they had pre-order numbers. All I can say is: EA is causing the death of another once-great studio.
