There were little things in the game that could have been easily corrected or implimented to really improve this game. For one thing, there are simple misspellings that could have been corrected. There are also some awkward grammar in the NPC text from the translation, that again, could have been easily fixed. It would have been nice to be able to customize the menu displays by resizing and moving the different menus and such, and there were some examples of text overlapping the borders of the menu that could have been corrected. The combat animations were above my expectations, but the running animations seem to be mo-capped by a retarded kid running after the bus he just missed. There also weren't any character customization options at the start other than clothing and starting weapon. But then again, its a free game.
Now on to the things that impressed me. The Chinese theme was a good choice and they implimented a really cool system with the trading route of the Silk Road. They have 3 professions that can be chosen after level 20. As part of this 'Triangular Conflict Composition', a player can choose to be a Trader, who buys and sells goods from travelling, the Hunter, who protects the Trader and said goods during the trip, and the Thief, who can attack the Traders and Hunters and steal goods. You have 3 character slots, so if you want to make one of each, or try all 3 on one character, go ahead. The combat is fun and addictive, and the skill animations and effects are flashy and look great. You can spend points to increase your Weapon skills and Force skills. In the Weapons skills, you have Swords, Spiers, and Bows. In the Force section, you have Cold, Fire, Lighting, and Force (healing). You can increase your knowledge and add skills to either Weapon and/or Force mastery by using points you gain from the same pool, so choose wisely.
Overall, Silkroad Online is a decent MMO with a good amount of content, including quests, weapons, armor, crafting, guilds, mounts and pets along with the weapon and force skills. What sets it apart from most is the added fun of PVP in the form of the 3 professions. Killing thieves and collecting a bounty or assainating a trader and looting goods is always fun. But the best thing about this is that you can get all of this great gameplay absolutely FREE.
