Silent Hill, along with Resident Evil, revolutionized the scary aspect of gaming. Silent Hill brought it in a different way than the RE series though. They got the cameras better sometimes, but the controls kinda suck in the same way as RE. Silent Hill gave us a lot more free roaming ability though, with much larger maps to move around on. There were also much more creatively designed enemies in SH. Visually speaking, Silent Hill was nice, but no RE2. It did the job and little more. You will spend a lot of time on the game though, and very little money for it. You'll want to play through several times to get all the endings and the bonuses for beating the game. So, this game is definitely worth buying. You can likely pick it up for less than $10 nowadays, so do so.
