The most terrifying and one of, if not, the best horror title for the PlayStation.

User Rating: 9 | Silent Hill PS
This game will always hold a special place in my heart and head for it is one of the most spectacular gaming experiences I've ever had in a while. People always compare the Silent Hill series to the Resident Evil series but those are two different types of shoes to fit in. The only similiarities between them are the way the character moves in a tank-like fasion but you'll get used to it soon enough. Now lets start by telling the story which is very psychological:

STORY: " You play as Harry Mason, a guy who's in his 30's is taking his daughter Cheryl on a car trip but soon your car crashes and you're stuck in the worst place to be in and that place is Silent Hill. Bummer, huh? Soon after you crash, you go out looking for your daughter, Cheryl when she is gone out of Harry's sight. You briefly see her for a moment and follow her into the fog where anything could happen..."

The story gets a thumbs up for being psychological and terrifying.

GAMEPLAY: The gameplay pretty much consists of you exploring this world with your weapons and items with you. You solve puzzles which are pretty hard to figure out if you don't know what you're doing but thats why there's walkthroughs out there.

The gameplay was much different than any other PS game I've played and thats why this one gets a thumps up also. Puzzles were great and interesting and the environments made the mood unsettling.

SOUND: Now this is one slight downside to the game but very slight. The sound for the enemies and weapons were pretty good at the time of its release for the PS but the voice acting wasn't very good especially Harry's. Harry's voice should had more feeling to it but this does not make the game bad it kind of adds to the game kind of like the SUPER AWFUL voice acting of the first Resident Evil but not even close to it. The music was also good but not great. There are some terrifying tracks in certain areas which people say that induce nightmares but I never had one so I can't say for sure.

The sound was good but not great. So I would say it is decent.

GRAPHICS: You should know this already. The CGI cutscenes look great but the graphics ingame look very pixelated but hey it is a PSone game so its forgiven. The lighting was pretty awesome though.

It's a PSone game so it has good-looking CGI cutscenes but pretty bad in-game graphics but lighting was really good and it made the game even more creepier with all those dang monsters roaming around.

OVERALL: This is a darn good game that should not be easily forgotten. Give it a try you may be surprised how great this game is. Experience the survival horror genre like never before with Silent Hill.
