Scary? not really. Fun? Sure it is..
i got a asian version, well im a singaporean..and first thing i noticed is the damn messed up config.well ppl having the r3 version complains bout not able to exit puzzle and had to restart so i have to constantly changed the mapping of the config after every loading, frustrating!!
Atmosphere: the beginning in the hospital is great, plus the lighting and fogs adds on the creepiness..made good use of grainy visuals in the game. but after a while it seems dull and u got used to it. and godammit the game is sure near pitch black in some area making navigation seems impossible without the aid of the maps. 6/10
graphics: disappointing, characters lack of facial expressions. This is next gen game for satan's sake!!! everything seems nearly last gen. well im a graphic whore so, it does matter. 4/10
gameplay: i have to praise the gamesplay, the combat system is awesome. with u as a 'soldier' ahem not really,(depends on which ending or how u judge..) Alex can execute deadly combos and dodge from danger. the gameplay is tight ,smooth and easy to catch hold. different strategies are involved in order to defeat different types of baddies, thus make the gameplay constantly fresh. one minus point, glitches appear in lotsa places so u gotta do a backup save everytime u reaches a save pt . 8/10
enemies: nurses, schism,needler,swarm,feral,siam(big a**),lurkers, cultist, smog and 5 bosses. cool design of each individuals. 8/10
difficulty: moderate..and abit inconsistent. quite hard in the beginning cos lack of good weapons and limited health pack and save point. 2nd half seems more flexible,better weapons, good amount of health packs, ammos, save points and obviously u got better with the gameplay mechanism until this stage.
survival horror? yes, but lose out to siren blood curse and dead space which delivered a unforgettable spine chilling experience overall. but is better than ALITD inferno for sure..for me at least.
this game is a rent for the least.
