Scary Like the Others, But Not Nearly as Haunting

User Rating: 6 | Silent Hill 4: The Room PS2
This game moves the location of Silent Hill into one room which has a portal to another world that is in Silent Hill itself. While the story was weak, at best, and the controls from First Person to Third Person were interesting, I didn't find the story nearly as compelling. I love a good scare as much as the next gamer, but cohesive storytelling does a lot to make you want more.

Once I got to the final stage, and it was a combination puzzle and battle, I found myself struggling to care about not having certain outcomes occur. I was more concerned about finishing the game as I was so close to the end.

To me, that's a sign of a bad game. If I can't wait to finish the game, then it wasn't a good game.

The graphics were decent, but not exceptional. I know I had trouble with the controls in First Person, but I am no good at those games, so that's not surprising. The portions in Silent Hill were cool, but the story never worked for me. Overall, I was disappointed at the end. I was glad I'd finished it, but really can't boast anything else about it.
