Silent Hill is master in creating atmosphere in games however this game doesn't do as well as the others in the series

The first Silent Hill I played was the third in the series. The third game got very dark at times, had an interesting and compelling story going through out it and offered a lot more variety in terms of scenery and gameplay.

So to step backwards with a game rather than forwards I was of course expecting a few perhaps lesser aspects in terms of graphics and maybe some game-play.

The second game is a lot simpler and not as compelling as the third. The boss battles are far too easy and quick (perhaps it was me being used to saving all my heavy ammo for Boss fights in the third game) but I got through them quickly and was left with a lot of ammo by the end of the game.

I was quite disappointed with the story and where it went, it seemed to hit a brick wall and just end. It also left too many ends loose like who was Laura and where did she come from, was she even real?! Or Marie, what was the deal or point with her?

I was excited to finally see the famous Pyramid Head, who is praised so much and portrayed brilliantly in the movie adaptation Silent Hill however he wasn't in it no where near enough and both his boss battles were poor.

This game also got no where near as dark as the third and that's what I thrived on most, just how amazingly dark and graphic Silent Hill 3 got was brilliant. Unfortunately Silent Hill 2 gets no where near it and just stays mildly bland and only intriguing at times.
