Sid has brought back the railroad genre and...well...it's ok.

Railroad's isn't necessarily a bad game; it's just that it lacks anything to make you keep playing the game. Once you start it's downhill from there.

In the game you play as a young entrepreneur eager to make his fortune in the railroad business. Your job is to connect towns and ferry resources to and from them. It's nice, but there's a lot of waiting in between deliveries and changes in what's wanted in a town. Furthermore, it's possible to have economic wars with other companies, but if you want you can set up a game to be all on your own. You can also refine resources to make more valuable resources (ex. steel can be brought to a city with a car production facility to make a car), but I didn't find myself doing that all that much. I just stuck with the basic resources because that's what most people wanted (according to the town's want list).

Setting up routes for your trains to travel is surprisingly fun, but after you do that there's not a lot to do. The graphics are average, but it is worthy to note that your computer should meet the recommended settings for it to work well on the minimum settings.

Overall, Sid Meier's Railroads! doesn't have enough content to keep you coming back. Its a case of its bark being better than its bite. Fans of other tycoon games, such as Prison Tycoon or Roller Coaster Tycoon, would definitely enjoy this game.
