A easy going masterpiece.

Pirates is a well done, easy going time killer. You sail through the Caribbean doing searching for you kidnapped family, but the "main quest" takes a back seat. You will be able to gain promotions in one of the 4 nations by capturing (or sinking) their enemies ships, or ransacking their enemies towns.

The game takes an easy going approach, killing is not rampant, there is no blood what so ever, people have odd voices, and everything appears nice and bright. To me this gives it a less serious environment and a perfect game to unwind with. It does get a little repetitive sometimes.

Unlike other RPGs, pirates will not make you hung up on your character. If lose a save file or just want to start over again you know it will be fairly easy to get what you want. The only ships that are really hard to find are ships of the line.

As stated above, its fairly easy to get what you want, even on the hardest setting. Thus the game is a little easy, but as I said, its an easygoing game.

Pirates is not a RPG or game for someone that wants a deep story and interesting characters, weapons, and armor. Its a game for someone that wants a break from that form that, even if just for a small bit.
