This game is repetitive and extremely easy, and yet it is still so much FUN you can't stop playing.

User Rating: 9 | Sid Meier's Pirates! PC
Pirates! is a game that is all about what gaming used to be about, simple, pure fun. Gameplay: Pirates! is extremely open ended. You start the game by "allying" yourself to one of 4 factions, but can easily backstab them if they don't suit your style. You immediately have a ship, and are allowed to do, well, just about anything. Go raid some ships that pass by, steal some gold, become a merchant, become the scourge of the seas, become a buccaneer, hunting down pirates, destroy the ships of rival nations and be a hero... do anything. The game is incredibly simple... it is not made so that you really have any kind of challenge at all, and, in a way, that is what makes it so easy to get in to. You will do lots of repetitive tasks, but it never gets old. Destroying enemy ships never stops being fun. Waltzing with governor's daughters never loses its grace. Pirates! is all about fun, and fun is what it does best. Graphics: The graphics are great, but not superb, there are a few areas they could have done more to it, like the animation of the water and such, but it is still very well done. Sound: Swashbuckling music and sound effects abound. The only problem with the sound is the music sometimes disappears, and all you have is the blowing wind to listen to. Value: While it won't provide endless fun, it is enough fun to spend 50$ on easily. Tilt: Pirates is a superb old school romp reminding us of how much fun games used to be.
