@ sodiumpentathol , what? he hasnt been the game developer of civ since before civ II ,but he's still really heavily involved in the whole development process.

Time to retire, Sid. It's pretty clear that your inovative days are long gone.

metalkid9 9 pts

man, this looks great. Can't wait no more.

There was talk from the devs about a caravan type system where you could pack up a bunch of units together for travelling long distances, but that they would be at a severe disadvantage in combat and if you weren't careful you could lose a bunch of units all at once. Haven't heard it mentioned in a long time though, could have been scrapped.

Simply awesome. Finally the battles are given a little more depth. Because the rest has plenty of it! Can hardly wait for it!

The one unit per tile thing seems a little off... worried about it. I wonder if you will still be able to create army's? I can see moving units out of the way just to move another up in say an land assault from sea... would be sooo annoying... Other than that looks great! Hope you will be able to plant nukes in cities again!

well the combat system of the civilization series was until now still a big pain in the arse. i´m very expectantly looking forward for the already well proven hexagon system. i also hope that (according to reality) the advanced technology units will finally be immune the obsolete ones (ancient, medieval). i was every time so pissed off when a frigate sunk my battleship or a bowman put down a helicopter - we are not on pandora here!

Thank god it's Park... not that other Australian guy.

One thing i hate about Civ is battles, i mean in Empire:Total War you lead the troops and determinate the outcome based on your skill and in Civ computer plays rock-paper-scissors to determinate who wins. But im sure that with this all new AL technology it will be resolved.

I realize that the stacks of doom where kinda lame. But how on earth are u gonna movilize ur armies now? one dude at a time? BTW combat changes are aweasome! Me like this! hehe

ALKATEEB 5 pts

why units are the same in both sides ?! usa and russia will have the same look like tanks !

Taffelost 15 pts

Awesome changes in my opinion, especially the new strategic "Panzer General" layer.

I hope this time AI's warrior wont defeat my marine :D

FREAKIN SWEET Oh man this is the first time I've seen video of the game in action. I love the more realistic artwork. The game had definitely become too cartoonish with Civ IV. Great to see them take the visuals in a more realistic direction. I have very few complaints or concerns actually. Pretty much every change they've announced sounds like an awesome improvement to me. Can't wait for September XD

Joesocwork 7 pts

Fr the interview, it looks like they want to keep their hardcore base with the depth we love while still attracting the "casual' game crowd. The one thing I've loved about the franchise over the years is the feedback the game gives to the player to allow the player to make choices. That's one area I hope they don't oversimplify. Meanwhile the graphics look fun! Oh, and I'm a month back into Beyond the Sword to scratch my yearly Civ itch. I'm hyped for September! 8)

If its one unit per tile, then hopefully the size of armies won't be greatly reduced. Sure, you could have fields of soldiers, but I loved my stacks of doom. Sid, don't take that away from me!

cdchi1 5 pts

Dunno about the 1 unit per tile idea (unless this means just one type of unit). If its only one actual unit I'm going to miss seeing how quick I could finish the game using my Roman legionaries :-( But thats only one thing I like doing with Civ...theres a few hundred others so hyped for the release!

Eoino 5 pts

Looks very good but the graphics worry me

andalore 5 pts

Looks like Civilization revolution, That game felt watered down to me but still a good game, I just hope they get the right mix of CivRev and Civ PC

@grgcucu You hit me up if you find one, i cant wait for this to drop.

alanoasiss 5 pts

Call of Duty if for soldiers pawns but Civilization V is for commanders, leaders, important people. They are "learning" how to fight for us the kings of the chess game.

Bond007uk 5 pts

Forget your Call of Duty's, GT5's and Gears of War 3's, Civ 5 is what I'm hyped for!!

Time to drop a couple hours of sleep off my nightly allotment.

Nice....... Who's gota time machine? :D

gijas 5 pts

is that the same Distant Worlds theme song I hear at the end of the video?

tooki 5 pts

These combat changes are just what the series needs--combat was always the most tedious part of the game.

RyuRanVII 7 pts

The game looks so fun and the release date is so far away! I think I'll reinstall Civ III or Civ IV. :P

Pyerun 23 pts

I'm liking those combat changes.

it009x9281 6 pts

My late nights of just one more turn are back:D

made_u_look 6 pts

@KayHangman Totally agree with you, I was also happy to hear they were making a Shogun 2.

KayHangman 15 pts

Some nice combat examples in there. This is my most anticipated game of the year, for sure.

@nyycrazy5: CIV V is teaming up with Steamworks that recently lauched their program to Mac, so it will probably be available for you as well. Sept 24, that's closing in fast. Must get money :(

milan22 5 pts

I just hope this runs smooth on my Laptop..

nyycrazy5 5 pts

Why'd I buy a mac!? Civilization > anything apple. Now I have 2 wait till god knows when
