Definitely a game I'm gonna play but I can't take the rip-off in the gaming industry anymore. I just paid $99 (without tax) for a digital download edition of Riders of Rohan in LOTRO - it's becoming more and more crazy!

Engage in new quests, global competitions and much more in Sid Meier's Civilization V: Gods & Kings, available now.
Yet another example of companies holding back content that could have been released with the original launch. Nickle and diming. They even admitted holding back the religion/espionage content for future expansions because THEY thought it would be too overwhelming for the player to make the transition for c4 to c5 with all the changes. What a bunch of horse poo.
So they only added religion as an expansion pack which was already in the last game and ask for consumers to pay 30 bucks for it? Am I the only person that thinks something is wrong with this picture?
The first computer I bought was so I could play Civ 1 and Railroad Tycoon 1. I was even buying PC gaming magazines beforehand, drooling and waiting, until I had the money to buy a PC. :) When I could finally afford one, sound cards weren't even standard and I eventually put in my first Sound Blaster. A huge improvement even to hear midi- music and a few spoken lines in Wing Commander! :) By the way, upgrading RAM was $50 a MEG back then!!! Wow! :)
Anyway, Civ 1 (on 5.25 floppy disks) WAS the first PC game I purchased and I've enjoyed every single Civ version, in its own way, ever since. And of course, I have my favorites. But, from what I've seen, in playing this expansion, it adds a lot to the gameplay of Civ 5. And it's totally worth the money, IMHO.
@KingBobCat Cool story bro, but $30 for additional content that was included in the previous two games of the franchise and should have been included in the $60 game that was originally released is not "worth the money" to most people. Your humble opinion must be skewed by an excess of funds to spend on gaming or something because in my opinion this is a rip-off. Despite the fact that I do intend to buy it, I absolutely will not do so until it's price drops or until it goes on sale for more than 10% off on steam. I was able to buy Bioshock, Borderlands, Half-Life 2, and Portal 2 for a total of $30. When any expansion is good enough to compare with those four games collectively you tell me it's "worth it."
Sorry if this comes across as taking it out on you. This post is more about the game than your post and I was going to post anyway. Nothing personal.
@KingBobCat I remember when we had to buy " 3D " video cards for playing on pc =)
Games were playable, yes, but my dream always were to have a " 3D " Video card! And yeah, a 32 Mb ram was SUCH an improvement and it costed so much hehe.
As history clearly shows us, Galileo clearly invented the click-able tech upgrade tree. ;) < bought mine! >
Already ordered, have to wait 2 more days to download cause I'm in Brazil...
C'mon, I understand it with games that are sold in physical copies here, agreements to help publishers, yada yada... but EVERY game? C'mon Steam :(
As a fan of the Civ games, I'll buy this possibly on payday. I will buy though.
New civs is nice, naval stuff..
I'd like to see the next xpac much faster though.
So far this expansion seems way too expensive for my taste. Will wait untill its cheaper. Seems like alot of fun though.
Just finished a 4h game as Attila. I played Hun style and just won a military victory. Not the best way to experience all the new features(religion/spies) but from I could see, the expansion is ok. More of a warlord than a beyond the sword if you know what I mean. I was hoping to see an improvement in the diplomacy department and a smarter AI but... Nope.
@Joe295159 I figured as much. At least it adds my people as a civilization, that's always adds some extra playthroughs for me.
sweet but im really looking forward to hearing if there will be a galactic civilization's 3 game i really miss the series.
@jackrg According to members of his team (speaking to GiantBomb during their evening video cast), he is deeply involved.
