I came back to this one after Civilization IV

I tried Civilization IV for a while, and don't get me wrong, it's not a bad game per se, but I guess I'm old school, and I like this one for many obtuse reasons, feels like a comfortable old pair of slippes. When one increases the difficulty levels, this game becomes an addictive killer, you glance up at the clock and realize that it's now 2:30 AM, and you started playing the game at 6 PM the previous evening. While the graphics and the sound definitely show their age (and I do have a nice rig with a hi powered AMD Athlaon board and killer nVidia graphics card), that does not detract from the gameplay. So many subtle options, so many choices to win, or possibly loose. This one is probably the pinacle of the series, and I intend to keep it for a long while.

Conclusion: Sometimes the oldies are really the goodies.
