@fishy87 In the show at least, Krillin is brought back after the Saiyan Saga and again after the Frieza saga. Maybe I missed the explanation but even if they did give one it still questions the credibility of the universe, in my mind at least, when they just decide to bend one of their previous rules by making a new one.
The two laws it violates aren't laws and the governments have already figured ways around these problems. Scalar in Russia in the 70s and I have no idea what the American's have back engineered but it's pretty advanced stuff.
This was a good new show. This is the kind of thing I want to see more of on GameSpot. But I must say as someone with a background in robotics and computer science. I am a little surprised at Dr Sharkeys lack of faith that we will ever achieve any form of true artificial intelligent in robots or computers. This may be possible some day use cloned human brains. Just like we see in Halo with Cortana. This has already been done on a very small scale use neurons from a rats brain. Check out this YouTube video for more information if you would like.
What about modeling reality? Real physics/mathematical modeling meet modern games? Lighting, raytracing engines? Interview with John Carmack anybody? Love the show already. Keep up the good work, Cam!
Awesome new feature Cam. Science + games, my two favourite subjects! How about extracting some science fact / science fiction from Mass Effect next.
What is emotion? Are emotions only a variety of hormones (and other things) being released into the blood and brain? Surely emotions can be synthesized?
Also I was interested in spec ops. I'm aware it's not a 'sciencey' game, but at one point in the game (I've only played the demo) the sand reaches up to the level of the sky scrapers, and it remains at that height for as far as the eye can see in every direction. I mean how plausible is it that even in the worst of storms, that the sand would rise to that level? Surely the sand would be distributed evenly over a massive area, therefore that is a LOT of sand.
1 Like The great thing about Science fiction is that it has a great tendency to become science fact. Someone, someday, may have a major breakthrough in physics that would allow us to actually create a functioning portal gun just like the one from the game. Scientists don't use the word 'impossible' because to a scientist nothing is impossible, just not proven yet!
As for the Ai thing, did no one see Terminator?? That's just not safe ground! LOL
