Johnny brings you details of the Fallout settlement between Bethesda and Interplay, while Sony announces that Netflix is coming to the PS Vita. Also: murder!
and i was looking foward to a fallout mmo.
@GreySeven Ahem brother, it's been too long and I want a quality fallout game again
Don't care about the Fallout stuff. Don't care about Netflix - I want the Vita to concentrate on the gaming experience!! Thanks Johnny!
i'm guessing that fallout new vegas is supposed to be one of the best games ever played. cause they were just showing how some people would enjoy playing it.
I could care less if bethesda keeps the rights or not. Fallout: new vegas and the dlc content was disappointing! It kept freezing up during game play. I contacted bethesda several times on what i could do to try and keep it from freezing. They really werent all that much help. If they do release another fallout type game, i would hope that they spend more time trying to improve the game play stability so it doesnt freeze or crash.
i trust bethesda so long as they remain a small company that focuses on quality...until they get bought out and become super corporatized like some of these other game wh*re companies i don't mind the rights staying in their hands for a project like this. although i may have to eat my words if they end up doing something really shocking like outsourcing some if not all of the work for the MMO to interplay anyway.
Is there any news on Diablo 3 ,I fell like I won't live to see the release :/
considering the fact that there isn't as many good games coming out this year as there were last year... I might actually get a vita -_-
I am upset that there wont be a fallout mmo but at the same time i dont really mind i would prefer that Bethesda focuses on making good single player content and maybe make a co op option
OMG!!! Vita :)
Pretty happy about the Bethesda thing, although I'm disappointed that the MMO might not get to see the light of day, to be honest it would be a foolish idea not to do it. As for the Vita, come on Sony, seriously.
A fallout MMO just sorta seems....wierd.... regardless of whether Bethesda or Interplay make it. I would much rather have new single player installment with, hopefully, fewer bugs. I also don't think it would really be successful in the current situation considering that Star Wars: The Old Republic is already out, Guild Wars 2 is in the making and another WoW expansion is also being made. Such a high level of competition would most likely result in any Fallout MMO being a flop.
Fallout 4, please.
I don't think calling a Fallout MMO by Interplay "a perfectly good MMO" is even close to accurate. Frankly Interplay doesn't have the means or methods to make an AAA MMO title. If a Fallout MMO were to happen, I would much rather see Bethesda doing it.
I could see a fallout game working in a similar way to the dark souls series, rather than an out and out mmo you could have subtle interaction between online players, finding notes from other players scattered around the wilderness and occasionally getting ambushed by someone else trying to steal your gear or something could be pretty cool.
I was actually for bethesda winning the court battle but now I just feel sorry for Interplay sor agreeing to that so called "settlement". And common Bethesda whos gonna by one of the older Fallout games in 2014!!
f*ck sony, lets talk about fallout.
a fallout mmo? meh, it would be ridiculous. to see 5.444.758.477 vault wanderers (or any falloutish heroes) throughout the wasteland may be called many things but fallout. But hey, MMOs are a great source of continuous income for game companies, so I bet they will go for it. Profit is the new... well, profit. It would make no sense for such a company not to try and grab a slice of the MMO market. That considered, I just hope they do a good job (although I would rather see another single player fallout... a multi-player at best).
lucamafra at the beginning of accepting a quest you just select multiplayer or single player... selecting single will do that.. selecting multi sets up a lan/internetgame or gives the option to join one,.... joining should also be able from your pip-boy/menu :P that would be cool, doing quests with 2 or 3 people :)

Yeah it sucks that the fallout mmo was lost over this dispute but i think bethesda would make a better one!
Fallout series for me was always about survival and desolation after nuclear war. A dystopian society where people struggles to just get by. IMO FOMMO diverges from that experience and turns FO into generic slash and hack (and shoot) MMO. Does it really feel like a dystopian wasteland if million people running around at the same time? I don't think so.
MMO is not a good path for this game. It was a ground breaking game when fallout 3 came out and I don't think there are any other games out there that are even similar to it. Turning it into a MMO would spoil it for me. If I want that kind of action I would buy a game of that type.
Fallout MMO? HELL YES!!!
i only ask because net flix is another subscription service, i appreciate the idea but im sure iPhone and iPad users who pay for 3g get tv channels for free anyway?? i could be wrong ??
a question...if you already pay for the 3g service on your phone contract, im assuming you can use that, and what happens when 4g arrives (not long now) will the vita be compatible or is it just more data sent quicker.

u seen it in the hilarious horse armor DLC, it doesnt take an IQ of 300 to realize how much of a money milking minded company Bethesda is. Fallout was NEVER meant to shine as a FPS. seems they were just injecting fallout-ish aspects into oblivion just to try to get in the FPS game pie. to me, Fallout was dead after Fallout 2. well tactics was fun too tho. IMHO i really dont see Fallout Online doing well in the long run, but GL to them
Fallout is famous for its single player and how the player can make the world his b)(tch, making it an MMO is like dropping a nuke on it, again.
Fallout Online = Failout Online
Huh. So Sony went with a company that alienated most of it users, had a massive drop off not only in membership but in stock value as well, a decline in new memberships, their CEO being voted worst tech CEO of 2011 by numerous polls, and is in so much serious financial trouble it might declare bankruptcy within a year. Way to back that winning stallion, Sony.
Start/Select without Jane is like a hot fudge sundae without the whipped cream. :(
Interplay is dead. Brian Fargo, the founder of the company left long ago. All the people who were involved in Interplay's best games are gone. Interplay is nothing but a putrid zombie controlled by the same dumbasses who drove it into the ground.
@Sgthombre Sorry, saying it was going dowhill was a bit harsh, but with the apparent abandoned MMO of Fallout there isn't much on there doorstep lately. what im trying to say is that they will now have to probably start from sratch so it will take longer, wich isn't good for the franchise. Its not putting much out right now, but it can easily recover with another good game.
Johnny's beard is a descendant of the Assassins.
fallout 4 ftw!! don't think fallout mmo is such a great idea..
I'd rather Bethesda not waste their time on the Fallout franchise and instead invest more time making Elder Scrolls games, patches, and maybe even DLC/Expansion packs. Never cared for Fallout and probably never will.
I don't care FALLOUT MMO, since the game never really excited me. EVE-ONLINE RULEZ!
Well, not a bad move i believe Bethesda can deliver a better versions as it has before, but am not too sure about MMO. All i can say is i won't expect a wonder so that i can still be happy in an average!
@deathmerchant36 In what way is Fallout going downhill?
@deathmerchant36 Yea, I want them to wait a few years and make a new Fallout. I want it to be good and I am willing to wait.
To me it looks like the Fallout franchise is starting to go downhill. I just hope that they come up with a new game soon, but not the MMO. As good as it sounds I would most certainly prefer a good old fashioned single-player Fallout game. They should put all their hard time and effort into making a superior single-player Fallout instead of the MMO.
Bethesda beat Interplay, is anyone suprised?
NETFLIX. ON. VITA?! No longer will I have to utilize my complex network of "da Vinci-styled" pullies and mirrors watch old movies and cartoons on my TV. Not to mention saving me the embarrassment of keeping the restroom door open in order to watch. Now what would be vene better is if I couldget my hands on a snazzy assassin's creed hoody so I can wear it while on the toilet...watching netflix.

for the MMO dont care, but i like it that its back into bethesda, because i hope they are all RPGs because that what bethe do best
Gamespot UK puts most of the US gaming sites to shame - I really like the light hearted approach and creativity - Happy New Year!!!
How shocking and lucky they have a vita.
Here's my "third opinion" on the Fallout settlement: I may have once liked the Fallout games, but that was when I haven't outgrown my brand fancy. It took me a while to realize that while their original creators (Chris Avellone, Tim Cain and company) may have had good ideas for the games, their skill at the technical implementation of these ideas was s***ty (even worse than Bethesda Softworks, I would say - and they are still s***ty), yet Interplay couldn't care less because the Fallout franchise has more than enough paying fans to give it money. Now that the Fallout franchise is in Bethesda's hands, it will keep making Fallout games because there are still many Fallout fans out there who would pay for them (Matthew Perry included), though there is no guarantee that the next Fallout game would be technically sound, considering that Bethesda's Quality Control is still terrible. That said, congratulations, Fallout - you made post-apocalyptic themes profitable.
Ah okay I remember 'Fallout Tactics' hahaha.
