Jess rounds up everything we know about Bungie's Destiny from the Fallen to the hulking white globe in the sky.
I didn't play Halo after it went Xbox exclusive. There was a gap between PC and me buying a 360. This feels like the early videos for Halo. The capes and outfits have a surreal quality that stands out for some reason. The world looks immersive as well, I just feel like as a scout I could actually scout without checking for the map boundaries.
Gotta say, I'm looking forward to this. The Halo franchise was and still is awesome (though it has seen better days) and to see Bungie making another kickarse looking sci-fi game again is something I don't want to miss out on. As for those of you who are complaining about it being online, it's an MMO, what'd you expect, a cookie? That aside, it'll be interesting to see how this plays out. Hopefully there won't be much of a grind when it comes to leveling, as while MMOs are meant to encourage cooperation, it'd be nice to experience the story if you feel like joining in the world as a freelance rather than a squad.
I'm not really sure at all where the hype for this is coming from. I've played all the halo games and although I like Bungie, it's mostly for their work in Halo 1. Just looking at this I see nothing impressive, it reeks of halo still. From the sniper rifle that is near identical to the character models and movements. I'm glad the company is moving on, but they didnt move on far enough from their original work.
ONLINE ONLY...OMG if you want to play this game you'll have to keep your system connected to the internet. How dare Bungie force me to be connected to the internet to play their game. There are people all over the world who can't afford internet to play this game...what about them!?
Oh wait, this complaint is only valid if Bungie were still owned by Microsoft, but now they are independent. Carry on people, carry on.
@spectreSE7EN Don't think people mind being connected to the internet on a multiplayer only game, would be a tad difficult to do the multiplayer otherwise.
This looks so much as Halo. The enemies look like brutes and Elites, the environment so similar. I hope there is something really different.
@Aleperez75 I think the biggest difference are the classes, but they gonna need more than that to make this game a major difference to Halo.
@EctoSpartan Who knows what they will do though in terms of a talent or specialization type system. There maybe 2 branches for each one and thus have closer to 6 classes. This is just what they have said thus far. Hopefully we see a lot more at E3.
Surely this is gonna be brilliant. Got to be better than Halo, last few were so boring.
i haven't been following this close enough...is it coming out only for next gen systems, or will it be on ps3 also?
looks like just another shooter to me. you can have the best graphics the best lore but if its only going to be a FPS/MMOFPS than that's all it will ever be just like many of the games we have already.
but only time can tell.
I'm genuinely excited to see how Destiny turns out. Normally online stuff isn't a big deal to me, but Bungie tends to have a grand and mythical feel to their games. I understand why they would have wanted to try to work outside the box and really go for an expansive space opera thing, unconfined to a single-player campaign. In my speculative criticism, I'd say its a matter of keeping the engaging combat and good AI ala Halo, whilst also avoiding the blandness and uneventfulness that often plagues MMO type games. Whatever they're doing, all the elements seem like a really ambitious task to execute brilliantly
Bungie will never in a million years top Halo 1, 2, or 3, but this game dose look amazing and Bungie will always be legends imo so i will be getting this day one, GL Bungie I hope you have the same success you once had.
After Defiance and Borderlands, I'm not all that excited for an online shooter like this anymore. Games that use online as a crutch, instead of having a truly compelling campaign, suffer for it and it shows.
343 showed the world that Bungie is a one trick pony. Not impressed at all. The movement is not fluid and it just looks like something that will get old fast
@cursealoud I like 343 and all, but I don't think they've surpassed Bungie. It's gonna take a lot of work to top the original Halo trilogy.
Hmm...I still value the single player experience far more than any multiplayer, MMO or MMORPG, or whatever the hell else they call them...never gotten into them, and never will. Cannot wait to pick up Bioshock Infinite.
After the masterpiece that was Halo, I do not see this as good news.
I'm sure that this game will be awesome, but the fact it will also come to current gen consoles, kills some of my enthusiasm. A game this ambitious should be next gen only, in my opinion.
@abhisheknerdy20 I found it very interesting after this video.
But, if there's no PC version or keyboard & mouse support on PS4 then it's auto-skip. Not going to play a one first person shooter with pad.
@snaketus People have been asking for Mouse/Keyboard support on consoles for years, but it will never happen strictly because a keyboard/mouse gives a player a serious advantage in competitive FPS games over a gamepad. By forcing everyone to play these games with the same equipment puts everyone on an even playing field (skill of the player aside). I wish they would allow it because then we'd get to see some real RTS games on console for a change.
I have no idea why they compare this game to halo as halo was a complete crap with repetitive gameplay and boring engagements. ive played only halo 1 but I don't want to play another boring halo game ever again.
im waiting for more info about cod ghost, C&C, and anything new and exciting that may catch my attention.
@game_gt3 lol...you call halo repetitive and then go on to talk about COD, the most overplayed franchise ever. I do agree with you on C&C though...but for PC...can't stand to play RTS games on console.
@game_gt3 i have only played MW2 and i don't want to play another boring COD game ever again, as cod was(is) a complete crap with repetitive gameplay and boring engagements
whoa, works both ways...who would have thought
sad that it is always online. My favorite part of halo was playing co-op sitting next to my friends. I wish split screen would make a comback
Glad to see Bungie finally able to get away from Halo and try something new. The FPS genre is horribly stagnant and needs some innovation. I just hope they avoid the temptation to just dump every player into an online world. I would prefer them to get creative with the multi-player like Demon's Souls and Dark Souls did.
