I think we totally got the jist of the game, regardless of the episode just being a funny montage of swearing. Thanks Johnny. The art style looks neat but totally not my style of game.

Thanks for the show Johnny. I know we were all talking about Xbox in the chat that day but it was nice watching you play this anyway.

I got this game from Humble Bundle and it's the only game I'm still too afraid to play

Now this is a decent game worth playing...other game suggestins are: Aero the Acro-Bat [1993] and Crimson Sea [2002].

I don't blame you. It is an incredibly challenging and frustrating game, requiring hours of practice. I've beaten it a few times. But I got tired of the way the game kept adjusting the challenge to counter whichever power-up I was carrying. After a while it became very predictable; in fact it got to the point where I'd pick up a fearsome power-up and then just switch off the game knowing that it would soon become impassible as the cheap programming would scuffle around behind the scenes to make my journey all the more difficult to screw me over for picking up a new weapon. Still, wonderful, imaginative, addictive game, even if it is more circle-jerk runoff from Newgrounds.

@wavelength121 Lol its not designed or programmed like that at all. The difficulty scales with level progression, not with items. Sounds like you are inventing a way for the game to "be after you" instead of accepting that you cannot beat the later stages. Btw, the developer is a long time Newgrounds contributor. I have over 100 hours played on this game, it takes awhile before you get to the point where you can complete the entire game regularly. So keep playing if you want to get better. But please don't make stuff up because of your own failings.

Couldn't get into this game.

The controls aren't tight enough and there isn't really any goal to any of the levels so you just wander around without really knowing what's going on.

Nice video though.  Short and to the point.

@naryanrobinson Huh? The goal is to find and kill the boss in each level. Its video games 101.

naryanrobinson
naryanrobinson

@Pulfasonic No it's not video games 101 because everything changes every time you try.

It's not a goal if it keeps changing as you move forward.  How is total randomness "gaming 101"?

Couple the imprecise controls with the inability to save and that's a recipe for what we saw in the video.

Pulfasonic

@naryanrobinson @Pulfasonic The concept of fighting a boss at each level never changes. The randomness and not being able to save is called a roguelike, a well established video game genre. Every level has a boss room, golden room, a shop, then some rooms with enemies in them, so its far from "total randomness".

I like Johnny but Danny's definitely got a better style. The way he does it isn't just like yet another "Let's Play..." video, he does it like playing it for the first time, explaining some of the history and stuff along the way.

Favourite indie game ever... even though I suck at it - not as much as Johnny though :)
