I really enjoyed your videos and they give a good idea of how great this game is but also the many choices you have to make as you progress. IMO thief GOLD and the Metal Age are the best games ever made. Then comes the original Deus Ex. Only stealth game since Thief that I really enjoyed were the first 3 Splinter Cells but Thief will always be the best. I bought the first 2 games years ago but I have some trouble making them work on my win7 pc so I might just buy those from gog which also have some extras that sound interesting. Thanks again for these great and funny videos. I hope you will make more Thief GOLD videos and I can't wait for the Thief 2 videos.

Danny steps into the shoes of Garrett to play Looking Glass Studios' classic Thief: The Dark Project.
this looks terrible..... granted its old but man, were people really this bored in 1998?
@Serpent17 He just said at the end that it was one of the best games he played. Watch it to the end, cause now we know who's the imbecile around here.
Thief was a very well done game. Still one of the most absorbing stealth games of all time.
Great game, lots of fond memories of it. Here's another suggestion for your next ''Random'' Encounter: Tenchu!
@Dark_December Tenchu would be a great choice for Random Encounter. The only Tenchu game I played though is Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven for PS2.
Thief was such a fantastic game. I remember being blown away by it at the time.
If nothing else they really nailed the atmosphere. For being a game solely about sneaking, it's actually pretty intense. Something about modern stealth games they don't seem to do as well. That may have to do a lot with stealth games falling out of style and becoming stealth action games now, I don't know. They're cool but they don't have that same level of tension that games like Thief have.
I remember getting it as a birthday gift back in 1999, yeah I was 11 back then, never got past the mines mission. Then a few years later the disk broke. And a couple of years back I found it new and packaged, didn't thought it a second and bought it, and then I could finally finish it. What an awesome game.
@vadagar1 nope i was deadly serious , the development team managed to build a time machine , come around 15 years into the future , play dishonored then whisk themselves away back to their time to finish making this legendary game.
some people will do anything to rip off games.
@dannyodwyer Oh, man, you actually went and did it! You're so cool, man! Thank you for accepting my suggestion!
Watching this video, and being a Looking Glass Studios fan, I can't help but think how awesome and ahead of their time the guys at LGS were if a game like Thief that's almost 15 years old and was made with (nowadays) obsolete technology still looks awesome and mindblowing and innovative so many years after its release. I can't stop lamenting their closure.
This being the first time I've ever seen Thief in action makes me ask about the technology. Is it some sort of magic powered technology? The Moss Arrows Danny mentioned and the street lamps are confusingly cool.
It is enjoyable to see this game in action; here are some other interesting games: Deus Ex [2000] and Rage [2011].
EXACTLY - I ALREADY SAW THAT PULSE AD, THERE IS NO POINT IN SHOWING IT TO ME AGAIN. AND I ALSO KNOW ABOUT SNAPDRAGON PROCESSOR FOR MOBILES.
I WILL COMMENT IN CAPS EACH TIME I SEE THAT AD. THANK YOU! :D
Its not very random if you are only playing it on the back of the announcement of the new thief?
For those of you who think the best gaming was in the past, watch this. Not saying this game sucks, just shows you how far games have come.
@tightwad34 its never about graphics , its always been about playability. How many old games are classed as classics compared to new games ?? most new games may look pretty but they do sometimes lack a little something.
@qewretrytuyiuoi It's not about graphics at all. Gameplay will always be the main reason for me liking a game. Don't know about you, but I'm satisfied with my PS3, and 3DS.
@qewretrytuyiuoi I have been gaming for about 25 years and started with the Atari 2600, then got an NES, then a Sega Genesis, then an N64, then a PS2, and now a PS3 and a 3DS. Unfortunately I missed out on quite a bit of the best the PS2 had to offer because I was more interested in partying and such. I really won't go back and try and catch up because I can't even keep up with all the games I want to play and all I game on is the PS3 and 3DS.
@tightwad34 i built my first pc just in time for the release of half life , before that i was using a ps1 and before that i was on an Amiga 600 ,C64 ,atari 2600. Now i own a decent self built pc , an Xbox 360 , a PSP and TWO Playstation 2's which in my opinion were the best console ever made. I have been gaming for over thirty years so have seen a lot of games some good some bad but every single game that i consider a classic has been genre defining , such as the Thief series.
@tightwad34 Have you actually played this game? Thief is still the best stealth game out there, thanks to the stealth mechanics and the sound design that hasn't been surpassed or even repeated ever since
@margevich No I haven't played it. Stealth games aren't really my favorite kind of game, but I did like Dishonored quite a bit. And thanks for being civil in your response unkile a couple other people in this here mini conversation.
@margevich @tightwad34 Your an idiot. Your saying a stealth game from 1998 hasnt been surpassed? Splinter Cell completely trumped this in terms of mechanics and sound design dickhead.
Danny, I've got one for you that may be hard to find, I cant seem to find it anywhere. Would you do a RE on Slave Zero?
For those that are maybe new to the series or haven't visited in a while, check out http://www.thief-thecircle.com/ for links to the fan made expansion (new campaign with new protagonist) and also the extremely satisfying but almost dead COSAS project. Some of the single missions are fun too, but installation is not as straight forward.
