Cam and Martin get their Zerg on and play through two missions of the Heart of the Swarm campaign.
i have warhammer collection but never played it for some reason? should i just start playing it and bail on this game? WoL was good, but idk about these xpac nonsesnse.
warhammer is far superior to the storytelling then starcraft 2, starcraft 2's story is washed up hollywood cliche garbage honestly i don't know what happened to Blizzard, lost all respect for them as far as story telling goes.
fehh, never "got" these games, boring as hell and repetitive. Im going to do a big steaming poo now
One thing people doesnt realize is that Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War 2 has far better graphics, physics and even gameplay than this. It was the logical evolution from Warcraft 3. However, the one thing that tips the scale in favor of Starcraft 2 is a huge pool of players that make matchmaking a cinch. It is kinda sad that the inferior game gets all the support from the game community because Blizzard name is behind it, yet the one game that actually innovates and pushes the boundaries of the RTS genre forward gets quickly forgotten and ignored. Fact is Sarcraft 2 has been a noticeable step backwards for the genre. If all the players that are now playing Starcraft 2 would instead give a try to Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War 2, they would realize how much of a chumps they are for sticking to a gameplay relic like Starcraft 2.
@gabusano No, starcraft is so tightly and finely tuned in terms of balanced. That is what puts its above warhammer 40k.
@Epicurus-Reborn @gabusanoYou know what else is superb balanced? A game of checkers. I dont think I am going to see you getting into checkers online anytime soon, do you? But wait, if there was Blizzard's name behind it, I am sure you would give it a go anyway. Starcraft 2 can have all the balance you want, but if the game mechanics are obsolete and overdone, you are basically playing the same game all over again. At least DOW has new mechanics never seen before that actually work, like units set up time to provide suppresive fire or high powered shoots in specific directions, dynamic battles over resource nodes, elaborate garrison rules, real charges that knock down light weight units, an actual physics system that affects battles and other some other concepts that were originally launched in Warcraft 3, like hero units that improve and get new skills during battle. Starcraft 2 threw out the window all the good things Warcraft 3 brought to just WENT BACK to an old, outdated gameplay model. Do something for me, play an "Alamo" style campaing game in Starcraft 2, then go try an "Alamo"style mission in DOW2. Then tell me which one felt more "right" and exciting to you.
@gabusano yeah, I agree. Unfortunately, despite my PC clearly has the requirements to run it perfectly at max., Dawn of War 2 was never stable enough with it's frame rate for me to play.
Starcraft 2 looks amazing - with a great artistical design - i would say you just dont know what youre talking about.
warhammer 2 looks like a mix of C&C generals and the better looking tiberium wars.
Starcraft is simply an artistical masterpiec.
Warhammer isnt even close to wings of liberty - and heart of the sawarm looks even better - the campaign missions and storytelling is simply great and keeps you playin.
@Lykanthropie @gabusano I find it very difficult to believe someone would in good faith defend Starcraft 2 graphical design against Warhammer 2. Maybe you are judging Warhammer 2 basing your opinion on screenshots, that is the only real explanation I can conceive. If you were to actually play Warhammer 2 I am sure you would sing a much different tune the very moment you went into a PVP match and had one of your mammoth units break through a wall, sending debris everywhere, to charge against a group of enemies, grab one and impale him on the spot, pretty much turning the tide of a battle. Now take the exciting combat of Warhammer 2, full of special attacks and criticals hits, with actual special effects that raise dust and blood, that damage and change the battle environment, and compare it to the typical Starcraft 2 skirmish, with units boringly attacking each other with the same exact animations. That is an artistical masterpiece to you?
@Epicurus-Reborn @gabusano @Lykanthropie What I am trying to say here is, you compare a Starcraft 2 battle to a Warhammer Dawn of War 2 battle, and Warhammer DOW2 is far superior in terms of visuals, hands down. And that takes into consideration all, model, textures, colors and yes, animations too. It is just far, far more impressive. If you think that Starcraft 2 is the best visual visual thing we can get, I dont really know what else to tell you here.
@gabusano @Lykanthropie oh and yeah, attack animations being the same are entirely for balance and gameplay reasons. The art of the game, means the game models, textures, colors. You know, the visual design. Which is incredibly good.
@gabusano Warhammer 40K Dawn of War still is one of the magnificently made PC strategy game in existence. But the Warhammer II is a console version of it and lacks every bit of aspects that made it spectacular. PC strategy is dying, they need to rethink their adjustments of PC strategy games for all platforms.
I rarely comment on gamespot forums, but, watching this this clip and remembering some others made me so frustrated that I had to take a walk for 10 minutes and return to write this comment.
First, why do I prefer to check gamespot rather than other videogame review sites? Because I find the site well structured, easy to use and navigate, because I find reviews rather unbiased and close to my opinion and because I find the news well reported, well cited and on time.
But(!):
Gamespot:
Please specialize your staff based on their preferences and of course based on their skills on different gaming genres! Those who are good at RTS, for example, know the genre better as a whole, and consequently can play, judge, review, rate, and cast this particular genre better. There is no need to be rigid, there just needs to be a preference towards more knowledgeable and more skilled people when deciding to make a piece about a specific game.
A word to castors:
Cam, I enjoy your ?What if machine? episodes, and Martin, I think addition of you and Eddie has made a great impact on news section of gamespot, but I have a few requests that are meant to improve the viewer experience, I would be glad if you guys could arrange to do them or give your thoughts on them. These are not just towards you but also towards any other gamespot staff who does a play/cast episode.
1.When choosing a difficulty, please choose a difficulty appropriate to your skill level. If you could breeze the game on a specific difficulty, that is the right choice to play and cast at the same time, if you had a little difficulty, or worse, the game was challenging on a specific difficulty, that difficulty is not the right choice. This has the dual purpose of avoiding death or disaster in the game that would require a reload and waste the viewers? time, as well as freeing up your mind to make great comments.
2.It is better to play that specific part of the game beforehand, (This is actually done in this episode and so is not related to the castors of this episode, but the next part is! J ) This will allow you to know which part of the game ?whether cinematic, a smart or funny quote, or any other ?special? moment in the game- requires attention and thus, does not need comment.
3.It is alright to stop commenting and focus on the game on large or difficult battles to minimize your loss.
Thank you and wish you the best. J
@srtfrostbite Hey mate! Thanks for the constructive feedback, I really appreciate it. I think you make some excellent points.
(To be honest, my enjoyment of StarCraft has always been far greater than my understanding of it--I've spent most of this weekend trying to work on my basic Zerg builds and failing pretty miserably. One day I will get there. But it's definitely one of my favourite games, despite my ineptitude!)
@martingaston @srtfrostbite Thanks a lot, it feels good to know that your words are being considered. :-)
As for the game itself, don't worry about it, it will come to you itself!
Wish you the best. :-)
Same old fashioned game play with ornamented new looks. Donate yourselves to the cannibals.
@archiasif go kill yourself Wings of Liberty is awesome and Heart of Swarm is shaping up great
@archiasif @Imperiacommando if you need oxygen you just go outside and breath you idiot
@archiasif make yourself useful and get the hell out of here....this is SF2 video if you don't like it why you re here in the first place....idiot
They put most of the effort on the cgi sequences. The graphics are too cartoony, so they dont use the game engine for the story sequences...The game just didn't age well. They will get my money if they bring back star craft ghost, or start from scratch and do some other 3rd person or fpg with the star craft universe.
@davidsworld3 Ghost was cancelled for a reason, bad idea to begin with :) Idk what you're talking about, the game on ultra settings is beautiful, better than graphics on any console game to date and still top notch compared to pc standards.
@G4mBi7 lmao! MGS 4 had better graphics than this and that came out almost 5 years ago.
I told myself on Monday I wouldn't buy this after being..well terrible in WoL online. I've since complete the campaign as of tonight, and pondering if I'll take another go at multiplayer.
Damn Blizzard for making good games!
@LoseYourself Speak for yourself and no asians dont count. This looks very dated for the times, and frankly dont like the way people play the game, it's all about rushing.
@davidsworld3 @LoseYourself Why let anyone sit back and get 200/200? Anything can happen at that point, lag, it is mostly luck than skill. Good players know how to micro harass and macro at the same time, turning their army into 200/200 while keeping their opponent at a minimum. Like damn, who wants to sit in abe for 90minutes, not doing anything. BOORING. It is called an RTS for a reason, key word being STRATEGY!
@_el_Greco_ @Disturbed_88 Blistered Thumbs , the guys behind Angry Joe show gave it 10 . Getting 10 from THOSE guys is not easy .
@_el_Greco_ @Disturbed_88 another mediocre AAA title this year then... Thanx for the info though!
Can't wait to get my hands on it . Dying to play this . In my opinion Wings of Liberty is still one of the best games out there .
@Exia2004 @jhonMalcovich Their voices are so squeaky that i ended up muting them, but their micro/macro is terrible, the hand holding the game is doing must be for them :D
give them a break :) they are intelligently commenting at the same time.
@Mega_Loser @jhonMalcovich They are funny at least lol. Worth watching I think.
One of the reasons I can't watch these 'Let's Plays,' is because you cannot skip to the middle in these GameSpot players...
