Caro and Shaun last about an hour playing CoD: Black Ops Declassified.
Is that a guy or a girl reviewing in the black shirt? It's got tits or something I think. Looks like an older lady I worked with at Wal mart years ago and she changed tires, and was all rugged and wore flannel. They look the same.
First of all, I have the game as a digital download. I decided to chance it since there weren't any reviews at the time. I finished the "campain" in an hour..that's right.. 1 hour. what they call a campain is actually a handful of 2-3 minute missions that fail to deliver any form of excitement or even innocent fun.
Gameloft's Modern Combat cell phone shooters are of a far higher quality than this turd at a fraction of the price.. 4.0/10 is actually pretty forgiving for this lackluster piece of software. It's not even movie tie in quality. It's a mobile version of a poor movie tie in.
To me the most shocking thing isn't that the game isn't good. It's the fact that Sony would allow Activision to outscource what is the single most profitable gaming ip on planet Earth to Nihilistic Software who's last high profile game was a stinker as well.
Seriously... how a billion dollar company, who only last year reported multimillion dollar losses, would allow a potential system seller to come out like this is beyond me.
If I had to destroy the Vita as a product THIS is exactely how I would do it.. just release stinker after stinker of high profile ip's like Resistance, Call of Duty and Uncharted. It's like people at Sony Computer Entertainment just take comfort in useless meetings and expensive company lunches and just let the whole thing slide into the abyss.
Sony created what is arguably the best mobile piece of gaming hardware ever. Simply because the power it has is complimented by actual physical controls. There IS no touch control substitute for dual analog sticks. The Vita just oozes potential but Sony seems hell bent on waisting it..
All this system needs to succeed is 2 or 3 high profile, high quality games. Where are they?
@DarksjeiK I agree - Excellent review. And remember.. this was $50. You have every right to be pissed off.
@DarksjeiK That was Epic!!! , comment comes from the heart or the liver, but you hit the nail in the head .....ViTa now is just a beatiful piece of hardware with a lot of potential......a suitable device for games such as castlevania, little big planet, God of War, ratchet and clank, but currently most of the titles out there really suck!!!.....I think Microsoft will take advantage of this......
You don't have to swipe the screen to throw a grenade. Just tap the grenade on the touch screen and it will throw it where your crosshairs are pointing. I got so annoyed that they kept talking down grenades but never figured that out.
Oh I'm not sure as to why yous guys spent time on this rather than doing a review of the PSVita game. As with the PSP GS just tend to ignore the portable gaming side and rarely review even the triple A games - why is that?

I don't feel the pull of this one, poor MP graphics for such a wonderful bit of kit, it already looks dated. I also heard that they chose to focus on the MP over the SP which means it'll properly play poor and be very short. Which leaves the MP, oooooh 4v4 WiFi, very exciting! - and just how are you going to play that 'on the go' when you will get constant loss of signal. Has anyone played MP games when the body count is so low, well I can tell you its not very exciting! I bought my PSVita so I can play games on the go however like its predecessor there just appears to be a dirth of games!
when will u guys play the campaign walkthrough of black ops 2!i'm dying to see it!counting on kevin to do that!
I don't know, not having checkpoints kind of killed it for me, but after Shaun gets pass the second stage, all the other stages look way too easy. I think they are right, they didn't add checkpoints to make the game seem longer than what it really is. Also the grenade throwing looked tedious and take way to long to go off. Might wait to pick this one up when it goes on sale.
almost an hour in and they haven't beat the second mission, wonder if they will ever beat it lol
I have black ops for vita and let me tell you It looks better than the video trust me... Online is lots of fun. Is true is not a ps3 but the point is the vita has lots of potential and we gonna have even better games and graphics does not looks bad at all I work on a video game store and 3ds is not doing well... And is more for kids anyways.. Battle Royal is coming on the 11/22 and they are also making a borderland for vita as well... Vita is the only handheld that is crossplay and i think is pretty cool...
We also have classics and psp games to>.. Also we gonna have play station plus on the vita sometime next week And they are giving Uncharted, and Gravity Rush ext... and 4 more titles for been a psplus member (free)... All im saying is,,, hate the vita for not having one! lol Instead of making lots of excuses for not getting it! And is time for everyone to start judging games on their own cause it seems to me,, that now a days people dont like giving games a chance base on stupid reviews..
@Ghostleader12 why the vita has 2 analog sticks and you can play allot of psp games on it and there is allot more stuff you can do with it and it hasn't even been out for a year
I'm tired of seeing ignorant people saying "Vita is dead" even though they probably haven't even played the f*****g thing.
@shadowhunter0 @DiverseGamer Yeah it's too early to say that the vita is dead. It still has a long time to prove itself. I actually haven't played the Vita but I may plan on getting one in the future.
@Muddrox_dev @shadowhunter0 @DiverseGamer The problem is it is NEW! For something so new there IS a dirth of games to use it for so what is the point of it? As a launch purchaser I shouldn't have to wait for it to 'prove' its self, I should be able to play triple A games now!! (not PSP ones!)
Haven't tried it, but regardless I feel all the shooters for Vita should have motion aiming from Uncharted. I felt like I ad better aim than on PS3 controller by far.
after watching this vid I gotta say the game doesn't look too bad I might end up picking this game up. Sadly I think most people who come to this play stream are approaching this game and most vita games completely in the wrong way and expect 1080p full quality ps3 games on the go. Hate to say it but you gotta consider the limitations of the hand held and try to keep in mind that the vita isn't a mobile ps3 and doesn't have the same power the ps3 console does.
Its totally maddening to read all the trash talk people put on the vita and its games even through from a tech stand point the device and the games are in a league of there own. 3ds does things well but it isn't a vita and a vita totally does things extremely well but then again its not a 3ds either I just wish people would just shut up and leave the vita alone already. If you don't like it good go back into your hole on the other side of gamespot where you belong because your just ruinning our game footage.
@BlackBaldwin After reading this post I'm flummoxed.
Who is watching the footage of this clearly rushed, overpriced shooting gallery with daft AI, shoddy controls, game ending bugs, poor, dull design, hideously murky audio, embarrassing writing and acting, little to no content, busted online, oodles of unfun and frustration etc. and going: "If only it had PS3 graphics." Who are these people and how do they remember to flip the lid up before doing their evening tinkle?
If this was a PS3 game, that would make it WORSE. PS3 games are $60. Black Ops 2, is $60. Bad enough that this one is $50. Like holy shit the gall of these people. What a bunch of business jerks.
I'm sorry, I absolutely love Playstation but I don't see any value in the Vita...
I don't know why the idea to use a flashbang in that room, they got stuck in, never occurred to them. Its like CoD 101, they could have cleared that in one go. Though it is lame game design to try and stretch it, by forcing you to start from scratch, particularly in levels where death can come without the player dying.
2 franchises you can count on to do anything no matter how unneccessary
COD
asscreed
Guys... PS Vita does have amazing games already. GO look into Virtue's Last Reward, Rayman Origins, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Little Big Planet, and Mortal Kombat. They are ridiculously fun to play. Also Persona 4 Golden is coming out next week. It has a 96 rating on Metacritic right now! Vita just needs more time and patience.
@DeadlyNinjas128 The problem with Vita, is the original concept was never one that really benefited it. A PS3 on the go. I've never really felt the need to carry my console with me on my daily routine. You look at the 3DS, its a completely different beast from the Wii or Wii U. I have reason to own both, with Vita/PS3, your good with one or the other. Since the PS3 came out first, most already have their one. What is suppose to be the systems strength is proving to be its greatest weakness.
@Sepewrath @DeadlyNinjas128 Sony never said it was a ps3 on the go websites like this and gamers are the ones that said that
@shadowhunter0 @DeadlyNinjas128 Their advertisement is a PS3 controller turning into a Vita. Their big early marketing push, was doing things like playing The Show on the PS3 and then on the Vita. Then the software leading the charge, was games like Uncharted, Resistance and Call of Duty. Sony was the ones who painted the picture of a PS3 on the go.
@Sepewrath @DeadlyNinjas128 It's because Nintendo have the softwares that has much more mass appeal.. not to mention price friendly.
@Sepewrath @DeadlyNinjas128 I can appreciate what you're saying, but I have opposed this argument from the days of the PSP for reasons of personal taste.Where you're right is in saying that Vita (much like the PSP back in its day) is attempting to appease a niche market. I happen to relate to that niche market of individuals who hate being tethered to a television. Although I am interested in finding out is whether or not that market can be increased, or whether its larger than what is generally anticipated.
While I don't outright disagree that I am approaching this from a non-mainstream perspective, I do believe that if more quality console-level ports were realised, more people would be willing to give the console a shot. Problem with the PSP was that it was a very poorly realised PS2 portable so people never really got to experience the idea in its fully realised form -- majority of the games and ports were utterly weak. PS Vita seems to present better hardware potential in closing the gap between the portable and the PS3/360 consoles capacity, but again, only time will tell how far they can get with the development and market appeal.
I do know that I certainly appreciated Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus, which was something I was really thinking of getting for the PS3 but didn't quite get around the idea and decided to pass on it when I heard that it's coming out on the Vita and that for the most part--save for some very mild texture resolution changed and frame-rate caps--it was a very close port of the PS3 version. I think they should work on original content for the most part, but if ports come along, then they should really pick some solid ones that do their very best to match the console fidelity.
@Sepewrath @DeadlyNinjas128 "I really feel like the PS3 and Vita are not helping each other."
^ Very well said!
@KadeStorm @DeadlyNinjas128 Yeah what they need is software that is unique to the system, not console games made by the developer B teams. That's one thing Nintendo does, some might not like the crazy stuff Nintendo will pull out for its handheld games in console franchises i.e. Phantom Hourglass.
But they wont simply try and ape a console game and the teams for console and handheld games are mostly composed of the same members. That is why they co-exist so well and compliment each other, I really feel like the PS3 and Vita are not helping each other.
"with Vita/PS3, your good with one or the other."
no just no. I cant play uncharted GA on my ps3. I cant play gravity rush on my ps3. I cant play liberations on my ps3. You see where im going with this right.
@finalfantasy94 @DeadlyNinjas128 Uncharted GA is not as good as the console games, but strives to be just like them. Liberation is not as good as the console games, but strives to be just like them. They have different titles but are trying to be exactly like their console bethren and failing to do so. So yeah, I stand by you only need one or the other. Compare that to 3D Land vs Galaxy, even if you say the former isn't as good as the latter, its not trying to be Galaxy.
very good call. hell i might trade my vita for a 3ds xl.
@robbiejones @Sepewrath @DeadlyNinjas128 Wouldnt do that either dude as 3DS has similar problem to Vita, lack of really good exclusives. I seem to be playing more DS titles on it :(
