sorry for dumb comment. I'm new to bio shock, just wondering with quote at start of game. are the characters from the time zone of the story or are they time travelers? this will be the first bio shock game I'm getting.

i'm not a really big fan of bio-shock, but since i watched that video of those two guys talking about it and just the way the graphics look, i think that i'm going to get the first and second game of bio-shock.

I don't think I've ever heard someone use 'uh' or 'um' quite so much in my life... Seriously, 10 points to the person who can figure out how many times he uses them during this video.

The extra time that they've taken to polish the game really shines. Great work Irrational, cannot wait.

Too much gameplay... I'm trying to avoid seeing a lot of the game until I play it.

I am so relieved that designers still dare to innovate.

What's going on with Bioshock Infinite, and the philosophy behind the game design blows nearly all other modern games out of the water.

Notice how much he talks about innovation, and its importance for keeping the game experience fresh.

This concept is LOST on most game designers nowadays. I remember getting into arguments on forums with people who are actually AGAINST innovation because "innovation is risky". I don't care how compromised by marketing a company might be, if they release a hand-holding been-there-done-that RPG (such as Skyrim, Dishonored, etc) with "gotta make money" as an excuse for why it sucks... I would say Infinite $h!ts all over them!!!

p.s. the amount of overrated, boring, easy, cut-scene-obsessed cakewalk games getting 9s and 10s is appalling, especially on sites like Gamespot, whos' reviews I used to trust.

Looks incredible- a marked contrast from the ruined Rapture- as they say, you're getting to Columbia before everything goes to hell for a change. And those combat looks a lot more chaotic than the fighting in the original Bioshock, even just in the terms of how many enemies are shooting at you. Irrational certainly put the effort in.

This game look very unique and visually stunning. Glad to see they have re-shaped Bioshock it seem's in a good way, because I didn't think Bioshock 2 was anything that special. Also this look's like the type of game you don't really need to play Bio 1 or 2, but still will be an advantage with it's storyline. All in all I look forward to this game and March will be a fun gaming month with Ascendance also in reaching distance.

@sEaNNY_07 Go play the original now fchrissakes.  Its still on curve, perhaps not with graphics but the design and atmosphere it creates are still so unique.  Its well worth experiencing what should be in everyones top 3 games of this generation...for a coupla squids!

Looks good, just wish it was next gen

contentxcontext

@couly why. i mean if its current gen it has a good wide install base and is more likely to sell well. And if it looks and plays as well as it looks like it does so far then current gen is fine right?

Also we dont have any next gen consoles yet , aside from wiiu, so its only good that its current.

Oh unless you take into account the wiiu edition hinted at.

@contentxcontext @couly It looks great, just not a giant leap in terms of graphics. Oh well, Bioshock is my number 1 game of all time so I'm sure I'll enjoy it.

Looking forward to this, though I hope there will be an option to turn all the icons and indicators off. But this interview itself was very informative. I will now ignore all BI footage in fear of overkill.

Something i look forward for the bioshock team to go back to in the future is a reboot of system shock.

Another great argument for not having conversation trees would have been the Booker is meant to be an outsider, looking in (at least this is my impression).

Far Cry 3 is a fun FPS but Bioshock is a whole nother beast. As amazing as Far Cry 3? The similarites end at the fact that their both FPS, nothing against Far Cry, & I had a blast with 3 but I never got that same sense of awe as when you first Descend into Rapture or that panic when you're trying to take down a big daddy. Bioshock is all about atmosphere & story, Irrational did an amazing job with Bioshock, theres nothing to suggest that Infinite wont match or surpass its predecessors.

I got the feeling that Dan is disappointed in the game, but didn't want to come out and say it. And the USE guy is a spinmeister.

@dmdavenport I'm as pumped as everybody else to play Infinite. Like I said during the interview, there are a few elements that I wasn't expecting to see included in a BioShock game, like regenerating shields, enemy health bars, and number scrolls for weapon damage. I'm definitely not disappointed from what I've seen so far.

Thumbler76
Thumbler76 like.author.displayName 1 Like

@Chippa7 do you know if it will be possible to trigger off the enemy health bars and number scrolls for weapon damage? IMO they break the immersion in the game a lot!

Thumbler76
Thumbler76

@Chippa7 @Falzonn I think I'll sacrifice some useful ammo for a better immersion into the world of the game! Thanks for the info!

Chippa7
Chippa7 moderator moderatorstaff

@Thumbler76 @Falzonn You'll be able to choose whether or not you want the indicators to display over enemies when they take damage.

It's useful knowing when you land critical hits, especially for ammo conservation, but at this stage I don't think I'll be playing with it enabled.
